Spending Christmas in Disney???

I just got back from another trip to Disney and we had a blast! I also just found out my folks bought a Condo in Sarasota so we now have free lodging....yaaa! I have always wanted to spend Christmas in Disney while the kidos are on vaca. I have a few questions, are they open Christmas eve/day? Do they do anything special on those days? What about New Years, is Pleasure Island the place to be or should we stay with the kids and do the parks?

Yes Disney is usually open LATE during x-mas. They do have have santa's around at different locations. And no they do not show the Disney Parade live from Disney on x-mas day like people belive.

As far as new years and Pleasure Island. They have a ticket you have to buy specifically for that night I belive they are $60 or around that area. And all the parks are very busy this time of year. If you want the kids to experience Disney for x-mas visit the week or 2 weeks after Thanksgiving. Everything is already out and all the x-mas light are up.

Also Epcot is has a special illuminations for New Years as well.

Christmas:

Downside: the crowds are so huge that walking around is itself a huge chore.

Upsides: They don't do anything special for Christmas Day because the whole season has tons of special things going on -- decorations everywhere, Osborne Lights at MGM (several million lights), everything and employees decked out with a Christmas theme. On New Years Eve, they have late, late, fireworks at MK and Illuminations at Epcot; Pleasure Island also good. And Disney not only does not close on Christmas Eve or Christmas but MK is open to midnight every day.
