My husband is going in a business trip to San Diego on January 10 and I have been invited along. He'll be busy during the day and some evening and I am thinking of sneaking away to DL for the day!

Is that insane? Another wife is possibly going to SD too but I don't know if her enthusiam for Disney is equal to mine?

Also tell me about Club 33 ?

If you don't mind being by yourself, then go for it! Splash Mountain has a single rider line, as does California Screamin. Be sure to take advantage of those. Going solo could be a fun way to get some pictures of your favorite things, you just won't be in them. I enjoy people watching and souvineer shopping, both of which can be done solo. If you go, have a great time!

Hi!
I've spent two days solo in Disneyland, and had a great time! I felt a little awkward at times being a lone adult riding Peter Pan and WInnie the Pooh and the like, but after a while I got over it and had fun. I highly recommend an outdoor table at Cafe Orleans in Disneyland for prime people-watching.

I don't mind being alone so I think I am going to do it! I love to shop in all the stores and EAT!

I can't wait! I haven't been to dl since I was about 10 years old....

I love my family dearly but a day by myself in Disneyland, talk about heaven. For some bizarre reason I don't like shopping with other people so I would enjoy going into every store, looking at everything and shopping up a storm all by myself.

When it comes to hitting the parks alone 1 is not the loneliest number. :teeth: I go to the park alone all the time and it's actually fun for me. Don't get me wrong, I love going with my family and my boyfriend and all but when I'm alone I get to explore and shop at the house of mouse at my own pace! Best of all I don't have to share my Dole Whip Floats!! :rotfl:

I think you'll enjoy DL by yourself...I'd actually love to be able to have some "me" time at my favorite place.

In your original post, you asked about Club 33. It's an exclusive restaurant in New Orleans square and if you have the opportunity to go, you should go. The food and service are EXCELLENT and because of it's exclusivity (not sure if that's a word?) that just makes the experience even better IMHO.

hey I just did 2 days and a few hours on my last day of my trip by myself...I loved it...I am pretty outgoing and have no problems talking to people while waiting to ride...I had a really good time doing things at my own pace, going where I wanted to go and not worrying about other people...you should do it :goodvibes

I agree, Disneyland by yourself can be a lot of fun!

When planning your schedule, remember to factor in the travel time. It can be 1 1/2 - 2 hour drive from San Diego depending on the traffic, and then, of course, 1 1/2 -2 hours back. Parking is $11 at the parks. You can also take the Amtrak train up to Anaheim and catch a taxi to the parks. (@ $10 for the taxi each way) Check the train schedule to figure out how long that will take you, and when the last train is for coming home.

Club 33 is a private club, and is available for members and guests only. I believe that if you have a Club 33 ticket, that it entitles you to enter the parks, but you are required to eat at Club 33 (not a hardship, but I think it's around $50? to eat there). I've never done it, so maybe someone with first hand knoweldge could clue you in.

I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Amtrak is an awesome idea! I hadn't even consideed that- will only add to the adventure. I was nervous about renting a car and finding my way alone.

The good news is that hubby called and his boss said he wants us to go up a few days early so we can have sometime to enjoy ourselves!

Going alone is great, i had to take some ppl in today and since they had friends, i took off...

i started at 1, ended at 3. I was able to hit Mattahorn twice, Space Mountain, Disneyland Train, and Splash Mt...

i found out they kinda do have a single rider thingy going on on Mattahorn, cuz i was able to cut a lot of ppl(at least 20+) and twice too!

I go by myself a lot, too. I prefer having my family with me, but I have learned to really enjoy the parks alone. As to being alone, people never give me a second look - they often assume my family is on another ride, eating somewhere, back at the hotel....at least that is the case when a conversation is struck. I say go for it, you will have a wonderful time :goodvibes

Never done a whole day,but a few hours hits the spot sometimes. Caught the second showing of Fantasmic this Sept, It was a ghost-town.Did PoC,HM and Star Tours(for the third time that day). It was kinda fun. :thumbsup2

Yep. Dining at the club includes a 1 day park hopper and lunch was the same price as a park hopper last time we went, so it ends up being a pretty sweet deal. It is truly a wonderful experience and not to be missed if the opportunity arises.

As for going solo to the park, a single lady friend of mine does it on a regular basis and really enjoys it.

I live in San Diego, have a Premium AP, go to the parks by myself approximately one time each month, and have a ball.

First, be prepared for some traffic on the drive up Interstate 5. Without traffic, I make it up from downtown SD in 1.5 hours. With traffic, it will take a minimum of 2 hours.

It is no problem going solo. Sure, you may initially feel weird going on some rides alone, things like the Fantasyland Dark rides, it's easiest to go on things like the train, Liberty Belle, etc., but really, nobody cares. The cast members have seen it all and they are actually very nice.

I would even approach characters if you like. I have found that they make you feel very welcome.

Going solo is awesome, your time is your own. Shop when you want, eat, sit, ride...and don't forget the solo rides, especially for Splash Mtn. It can't be beat.

Have a great time.

I just got back from 3 days in the parks by myself and had a wonderful time! I went on all of the rides that I wanted to go on and saw the shows that I wanted to see. I had a great time people watching and eating treats and just enjoying the freedom of being by myself.
Don't feel weird about going on rides by yourself, after all Walt made the park for adults to enjoy just as much as kids!

I'm thinking of taking the train from San Diego and going to DL by myself next week, so it's great to hear that it's so much fun solo! :thumbsup2
