Spending a birthday in the World

I spent my 21st birthday at WDW, but I don't really recall anything about it. Didn't plan anything special, and we were staying off-site.

We usually don't make any kind of "big deal" out of birthdays. Usually don't do gifts or cards or anything much, really.

HOWEVER...

This year we'll be at WDW over my husband's birthday, and I'm planning a fishing-themed Gifts of a Lifetime event, fishing- and Disney fishing-related gifts, a guided fishing excursion and lunch at Coral Reef. Also, we'll be switching from onsite accomodations to a beautiful vacation home with a large, landscaped pool and jacuzzi, colored fibre-optic lighting and piped music which I think we'll really enjoy. :)

Its the only day that's truly yours ! It IS a big deal and you should celebrate !!!!!!!

I have a question.

My 19th birthday is coming up. [the counter is not working right]
My birthday is coming on June 28th and I plan to be in WDW that next week[For celebration of my bday.] Is it possible to still get a Birthday Pin? Cause I would really love one.

Hi everyone!:wave2:
My Dh's family (or should I say Dh & I) are planning a surprise birthday celebration for DH's mom who will be turning 55 this year. The whole trip is a surprise, especially that all three of her kids will be surprising her in WDW. (We all live quite a distance apart.) We are planning a dinner at Crystal Palace on Oct 8th. We are all buying MNSSHP tickets. The "kids" will get to CP first to get the table.
My question is for those who have done this sort of thing, do you just mention the birthday when making your PS? Also we want to do a birthday cake, will CP do this for us or would we have to get something from the bakery? Also do you think we could get one of the characters to bring the cake or follow the cake out? DH's mom loves Eeyore, this is why we picked CP.
Any help or suggestions would be wonderful. I have never done a birthday in WDW before, but I'm sure it will be great! Thanks!

Mommyflower~
Definitely mention the birthday when you make your PS and mention it again to the CM when you check in. When it was my birthday, I received one cupcake that was decorated. If you need a larger cake, I would investigate further. You may need to call ahead and order one.
Don't forget to get a Birthday button at Guest Relations when you enter the park! You may be able to pick one up for her and have it waiting at the table to continue the "surprise" factor. Have a wonderful celebration!

My daughter turns 5 on June 28, my son will be 11 July 23.

So we are celebrating both their birthdays on our upcoming trip.

I plan on getting them birthday buttons from each park.
I have made them birthday t-shirts--each shirt has a baby picture of each kid having a temper tantrum. I put "celebrating x years of adorable faces" under the pictures and on the back I am putting "I brake for Birthday Cake".
I made my son a bucket hat with Mickey and friends embroidered characters holding presents and birthday cakes------I made it because he said he wouldn't wear the big Happy Birthday cake hat from WDW like my daughter.

We are ordering a cake from the Boardwalk Bakery and decorating our villa.

I had it noted on all of our PS's that we are celebrating two birthdays.
Also, since we are a Magical Gathering group, it was noted on all of our ressies.

Taking DD to 1900 Park Fair for her birthday dinner, Chef Mickey's for my DS's birthday dinner.

Taking my DS for a My First Spa treatment at the spa at Saratoga Springs.
Then, we are taking him parasailing. He doesn't know..................

This trip is going to be so much fun!

KSgirl,
Thanks for your help! As soon as our 90 day window opens we plan to call and start getting thing arranged. Anyone else have any suggestions?

My DH and I are making a short trip from PA where we live to Orlando and staying off-site----but I am spending my birthday at Disney World and it is my favorite place!

I have never been able to do this before-one trip we celebrated DD's birthday and it was great!!

The problem is I have always been the one to make all the plans to surprise and go overboard for my kids and DH's birthday, but he is shy and doesn't like surprises or a fuss about his birthday, so he never would think to surprise me while there and I feel a little silly making a fuss over myself------anyone else face this problem?

I do plan to get a birthday button at the park, though, and wear that all day.

I don't mean to whine----it is just sometimes the "surpriser" would like to be the "surprisee" know what I mean?

WDW4ME~

I know EXACTLY what you mean! However, my MIL gave me some good advice once: You won't get what you want unless you tell (insert name here) what you want. If you let (insert name here) try to guess what it is that you want, you are setting yourself up to be disappointed more times than not. I am the giver of surprises (etc) in my family, and rarely get the treatment reciprocated, so I totally understand. But don't let that keep YOU from feeling special!! The way to get "around" that don't-want-to-make-a-fuss-about-yourself feeling is this: When you make your PS's, just share your enthusiasm about the upcoming trip with the CM who helps you. There is nothing wrong with mentioning how excited you are to take this trip with your husband for your birthday! It is, and should be, a very special occasion, so don't be afraid to let people know that you are tickled pink :Pinkbounc to be spending it in your favorite place in the world!

Have a wonderful birthday!!

Thanks, KSGirl!!!

I am thrilled to be spending the day at Disney World!!!:bounce:

And I understand what you mean about asking for what you want--one year for my birthday DH asked what I would like and I made the mistake of saying "nothing" hoping he would surprise me-----but that is what I got--nothing. He said "that's what you said" .....

Appreciate the reply!!!
