We are considering taking 3-4 weeks to spend at FW one summer a few years from now. Have any of you done this? We have been there in the heat of the summer 2-3 times before but never more than a week. Just wondering if we will tire of the heat if we are there that long.

If you're able to swing it....I say, GO FOR IT. I've never stayed in the heat of summer but have done long term during peak winter crowds. You simply make short forays into the parks and plan alot of down time. In summer I'd say several hours each day in the pool or water parks. I can't imagine ever getting tired of staying at the fort!:goodvibes

We stay every year for 4 weeks in the summer. You get used to the heat - somewhat. That's what air conditioning is for! Just come back to your trailer in the afternoon and either rest or go to the pool and have a swim in the bath water!

I would only go in the summer if I could stay that long. That way you have plenty of time to do everything and you wont have to push so hard through the heat. How ever we always go in fall or winter. I am hot at work so I dont want to be hot on vacation.

I have done it for the past few summers. I started at 2 weeks and moved up to 24-27 nights. I have to allow 2 -3 days driving time on each end, so it works out to about a month away from home. It never seems like I'm gone that long. Some days are just Ft. Wilderness days. Many days are parks in the morning and pool in the afternoon. Throw in a good book and a nap and I'm relaxed... I'm looking at 7/13 - 8/6 this summer with 2 days at the end in a DVC studio before I drive 1300 miles back.
