I'm sure its been covered on here but to save time thought I would just ask again. How fast is the HP ride and is it rough? I have an eye condition that won't let me ride rides like the Mummy this time since I can't have the quick turns and drops but I can do Spiderman since it isn't really fast. I was wondering where HP falls with these as a comparison. Thanks

Forbidden Journey is very smooth and not fast. It isn't a roller coaster but more like Spiderman.

I guess I just don't get it. What makes the ride scary? I would LOVE to ride it, but am truly afraid. I cannot do "dips" like on roller coasters. I do enjoy MIB & Jimmy Nuetron. I think I did Spiderman & all I remeber is being jerked around which didn't scare me but wasn;t enjoyable.

Nobody said it was scary. There is absolutely nothing scary about the ride itself. The only things that people might find scary are the elements of the books/movies that are incorporated into the ride. Like bubba's mom said, there are spiders and dementors and a few skeletons and a whomping willow. But the ride mechanism itself is not scary.

So the floor doesn't drop out, there are no "dips" b/c it isn't a coaster, you are not "lifted" up anywhere? I mean, I (sadly) have issues with Soarin" b/c of how high up I am. Spiders, dementors, "scary" visual stuff is OK, my concern is the movement.

Actually you are lifted because the ride vehicle is on a robot arm. It's not as high as the upper rows of Soarin' tho' and you probably won't notice.

I suppose it could be scary for people with claustrophobia or very bad arachnophobia (the spiders look fake to me although I hate the "spitting"), but it's more of a dark ride than a traditional thrill ride like a coaster.

You really don't see the ground unless you are looking for it. Here is a picture of the ride vehicle in action and you can judge for yourself.

This is the ride vehicle going around the final part of the ride. You can see the platform to judge how high above it you are.

Hmm going by what you are saying, Im not sure if the ride will scare you or not. No it is not in anyway a coaster, it does not go upside down or fast or any of that. However, it does simulate flying and there are times when you are quickly moved side to side, flat onto your back and tilted forward/backwards. The movements are smooth but you can certainly tell you are moving and it's not just simulated/stationary movement. Your feet also free dangle as they do in Soaring, so they are not on the floor(since you mentioned the floor dropping out).

You are lifted on a robotic arm about 10 ft off the ground, you swoop and twist and even lay on your back a couple times. There are plenty of descriptions floating around online for you to get a good idea of what takes place. If you have doubts, skip it.

That is probably the best solution. I often do that with rollercoasters. I have a hard time with certain wooden roller coasters that seem to rattle my brain. My son will go on first and then tell me if I'd enjoy it or not.

I had a really hard time visualizing this ride by reading the descriptions. I just couldn't understand what was so unique about this ride until I rode it. It's a row of 4 seats that have pull down shoulder restraints. You board on a moving sidewalk (like haunted mansion, buzz lightyear, peter pan). The bench of seats is on a robotic arm that moves the bench thru a series of rooms and different "movies" The benches move up/down, rock forward/backward, tilt right/left to make you feel as if you are flying thru the scenes (similar to the soaring ride at EPCOT). You really aren't moving as much as you think. If you feel like you are experiencing too much motion just shift your gaze to something stationary on your bench (your restraint, your lap, etc.). You do not go upside down (altho you do lay quite a ways back a few times) and the ride does not go fast (altho flying thru the movie scenes may make you feel like you are moving fast). I hope this helps.
