Does anyone have any ideas for a good viewing spot for the Spectromagic parade at MK, one that maybe we could just hang out at after the parade is over that will also provide a good place for watching the fireworks? Also, how long do you suggest getting to one's "spot" before the parade starts? TIA

We like to watch any parade from a tree "island" near the Frontierland side of the entrance to the Liberty Belle Riverboat. There's a low stone wall to sit on, and a rail fence to lean against. If you play your cards right, there's a point where the tape line comes so close to the wall that no one will dare try to stand in front of you. But it's not the best place to watch the fireworks.
We've never been told by a CM not to sit on the wall, but don't stand on it!
On 12/30 the CM's were overwhelmed trying to keep people off of the enclosed part of the 'island'. People, mostly teenagers who were there with there parents, were climbing over the fence, trampling the flowers, and trying to climb the trees!
I'm amazed sometimes at what people let their kids get away with.

I think anywhere on Main Street is a good spot for the parade. On getting a spot it depends. Our family has found a spot as early as 3 hours before the parade. We were there this past December(The week before Christmas)and we found a spot 90 mintues before the parade. So I guess it just depends how close you want a spot and if you want to sit or stand.

I prefer to see it in Town Square or on Main Street, it just seems more magical there. Last month we lucked out and got a spot at the last minute right where it comes out, standing behind some kids sitting on the ground under the rope. We thought Spectro was at 7 & 9 that night, we got there about 7:45. Turned out they had pushed the schedule back to 8 & 10 so we found this spot. We were so close to the floats, it was great! It's also interesting to see that with some of the bigger floats they have a cm guiding them through the gate, with orange sticks like at the airport.
