Spectromagic Floats

We noticed some different things in the parade on this trip that we didn't remember from before and one night one of the floats was missing. So my question is, do they trade out floats for good, or do they adjust and add to them. Do they add new things often, or am I just forgetting these things? For example, the first night we watched, the big Fantasia gargoyle thing that opens his wings was not in it, but there was a long float with pegasus on it. I don't remember this float from the first times I saw the parade. But then Tues. night, both of these floats were in it. Also, the wicked queen from Snow White is in all our pictures from Spectro before, but wasn't in it this trip. And there was a small maybe foot and a half tall Jiminy Cricket animatronic figure at the end saying goodnight that I didn't remember, but he was there in both. Just curious if others have noticed things being taken out or added before.

I know the two Fantasia floats have been there a long time, Chernabog (the gargoyle thing with the wings) has always been one of my favorite floats, but I usually end up sitting in a place where he can't open his wings because of clearance. :sad2: The wicked queen may fluctuate some because of the castmembers available that particular evening (I know that the night after Hurricane Charley, it was Minnie in the float with the paint buckets rather than the three pigs). Also, some of the floats may come in-and-out as maintenance requires... Jiminy's always been there as the host.

Hope this helps some!

the gargoyle ??? is my favorite float and the last two trips we took to mk he wasn't there, only the horses :guilty:

Chernabog will not come out in certain weather conditions, or when the road is slippery (like after it rains :umbrella: ). But most of the floats will usually be out. If they are not out, it's probably being repaired.

Where is the best place to be to see the parade and then get out?

My suggestion is Frontierland - shooting gallery!

The best spot for the parade (both night and day) would be in Frontierland/ Liberty Square. The reason for that is that most people will watch the parades from Main Street. Also, for the night parade, the parade ends in Frontierland (next to Splash Mountain). Since it takes about 15 minutes to arrive, by the time it's over it'll be easier to exit the park (ESPECIALLY after the 11pm parade).

Unless you are using the bus system to a disney resort, and then I would suggest watching from the train station so you are the first people out. If you wait until the end of the parade you will be at the END of the mass of people exiting the park, and it will take you forever to get out, and you'll stand in line for a bus for an hour. At least the way the crowds were this week...

I have stood in the rain and watched it go by.

So basically, the answer is no the parade doesn't really change, right? I just don't remember parts of it, and sometimes the floats are gone for repairs, but otherwise it's the same...is that it in a nutshell?? :)

I've notices a few changes over the years, but mostly it stays the same. THe most noticable changes I can think of right now are that the Genie form Aladdin replaced Roger Rabit on the music float with Goofy, and the addition of all the cast dressed in Black that walk beside certain floats. There may be a few other changes, but those are what I can think of right now.

Well, if you've seen it recently, I found out that the Hippo on the float balancing on the finger of the gator broke off so now they have a performer playing the hippo dancing around it instead. Most changes are incidental.
