Spectromagic/Disney Quest questions!!

I have two questions - please help!!
1st - On our arrival day, we have no park planned, I figured we'd go to the pool then I made a ressie for CM at 6:00. In a way, for our first day it sounds kind of boring, but I figured it would give us a rest for our 4 long park days. I thought maybe if Spectromagic Parade was taking place we'd try to catch it. It is possible to see from the Contemporary right? Any other suggestions for that night? Anything close by? We'll be relying On Disney transportation (and staying at All Stars Movies).
2nd - Would you suggest Disney Quest for a 6 year old? It will be myself, my boyfriend (Who I know would luv it) and my six year old son. We have 1 day off in between parks and I'm looking for something maybe along with Downtown to fill some time? Any other suggestions? Thanks everyone!!

One More question!!!!

Do your six year olds ride any of the rollar costers? I think my son will finally be tall enough this year. What are your experiences with children of that age?

You can see the fireworks from the contemporary, but you can't see the parades in the MK from there. You can see the electric light water parade, it is boats going around bay lake and the 7 seas lagoon. Last week it took place each night at 10.
Something fun and free to do is to just ride the monorail around. A six year old would probably like doing that.
As for disney quest, I think 6 could be a bit too young. there are probably some things that he would like, but it is really geared for kids who are a bit older.

Thanks! And nevermind the Spectromagic question. Just found a schedule. It's not even scheduled that day. Maybe we'll just ride the monorail and tour some hotels instead. Anyone else have any other ideas or suggesations?
