Spectro from Tony's Town Square?

I'm hoping that someone out there can help me with this one...

For my family's next WDW trip, I'd really like to try to snag a porch table at Tony's for dinner and Spectro. Has anyone out there had experience with this? Any tips? If Spectro is at 7 p.m., what time would you recommend that I make the ADR?

There was a time when you could request the porch but now it's shear luck to get seated there. We still try and get ressies between 8 - 8:30 when the show is at 9 just in case we get on the porch. You cannot walk out and watch SM unless you have a seat on the porch. We usually squeeze in the crowd on the sidewalk.

Thanks for the reply! That's too bad they don't take seating requests any more. I might still try to ask for an outdoor seat when we get there.. It doesn't hurt to ask, right??

Has anyone else had luck requesting outdoor seating to view Spectro?

We requested the porch last year and told the hostess we would be willing to wait. The closest we got was the room just back from the porch. We were able to see a large part of the parade anyway, but not as much as if you were on the sidewalk. Considering we have a child who can’t watch the parade from outside due to the loudness of the music, it worked out better for us than if we were outside. If the dinner had been better we might have tried it again this year. I know lots of people love Tony’s, so we must have hit it on a bad night.

I was seated outside w/o asking, and I would think at the very best table on the patio. The server invited me to linger to watch Spectro but I only stayed for the start. I will say that a lot of ppl tried to crash the patio ie climb over the ropes and servers were continually shooing them away. The most obnoxious was when ppl just tried to sit at my table while I was eating!!
