If you had to make a choice b/w going to the Hoop de doo revue or watching the SpectroMagic parade and the new "wishes" fireworks at the MK, which would you choose if your family included a 4 year-old DS and a 5 year-old DD?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions?

This is a difficult one, but an easy one at the same time! I love both, but seeing Spectromagic parade was the first time that I actually felt the "magic" that everyone talks about. I'll never forget it. It is so fantastic and you won't believe how awesome the music is. Your kids will love it too. Just be sure to get a seat somewhere along the route at least an hour before. It is well worth the wait.

if in your signature it did not state that this will be your first WDW vacation, i would have said Hoop Dee Doo. This is a must see/eat for our family on each trip. Nothing will ever compair to the look on my sons face (and the looks on my nieces faces when we took them) the entire way thru his first HDD.

However - If you have never done either and if i could only do one, i would have to agree that Spectro and the following fireworks are full of Disney magic. It would be a must see, especially considering the ages of your children.

(if you can fit Hoop Dee Doo in some other time, please do - this could be the perfect excuse to go back. Like you needed one.)

Thanks for your suggestions! I would really like to do both but we will only be at the parks for 3 short days. Oh well, I guess I will just have to plan a return trip! :p

Anyone else have an opinion?

I would definitely have to vote for Spectro & the fireworks at the MK. This is the best parade at WDW and the fireworks are amazing!!! Hoop is ok, but hands down Spectro & the fireworks are AWESOME!!!! These are a definite must see!!! :jester: :smooth:

Do both!! If that's not feasable go for spectro and wishes, then next time do Hoop Dee Doo.

Easy for me. If there is no real winner, I do the math. HoopDeeDo about $150, MK SpectroMagic $0. So, have a nice dinner at the Castle (very magical for the children), and you're still ahead of the game.

I have been going to Disney World since it opened in 1971 and Spectromagic is the best parade I have every seen. The lights, the characters, and the AWESOME music. Buy the CD and take the magic home. Haven't seen Wishes but can't wait.

SPECTROMAGIC HINT:
Get a spot early, and if you have a beach towel or something, put it down for the kids to sit on. Get an ice cream or pretzel and it will be worth the wait. We like by the Hall of Presidents. My hint is to look for the plugs in the ground - about 3" - sit by one. Before the parade they will pop the plug and put in a pole with a rope. You are now in the front row and no one can sit in front of you. Some places are going to be cross walks that no one can sit in. Unfortunately, sometimes you can sit there until just before the parade when a CM will tell you to move and presto - you have no seat. Ask a CM if you are in a crosswalk.

HOOP-DEE-DOO:
My opinion, and I am not trying to be insulting to folks from around the US. I am originally from the N.E. and transplanted to the S.E. But I see you are from Texas. The HoopDeeDo is a ho-down. It is like a southern BBQ with entertainment. If you live in the south you have plenty of opportunity to do something like this for much less money. No one I know around here ever does it, or if they do they don't go back. ALOT of money! Spend it on the Castle for dinner or the Luau or something else that you may not have in your part of the country.

Have a wonderful trip!!

Thanks to all for the wonderful suggestions.

HopperFan--thanks for the "plug in the ground" suggestion. That is a GREAT tip!

I will now be cancelling my Hoop de Doo reservation (and happily saving the money). I now will have an excuse for us to return to WDW (as if I need one)--to go to the Hoop de Doo.

Thanks again!

:D
