My youngest DD wears glasses. I know this might sound like a stupid question but will she be OK to wear them on the rides? I am just worried that she might damage/lose them. Do you think it would be sensible to get her a spare pair before we go, just in case? Any other glasses wearers here, who wear their glasses on the rides?

Definately, definately take a spare pair.Have one of those little chains around it too.If sweaty ,running etc. may slide off.Yes,I take mine off for some rides. So have your case with you if you put glaassses in your handbag.
Some rides have signs advising you to take your glasses off.
Most young childrens rides are ok.

Have a great holiday,
Lynn

I would advise that she takes them off on the rollercoasters and rides in that nature. make sure that she has the case to put them in while she is on the ride. my lenses came out of the frame while they were in my bag on a ride.luckly i managed to fix them. If you can get a second pair then it could be a good idea just in case.

I have bought a neoprene band from a ski shop that I used on our last trip I can't remember what it's called though - a froggie or somethinf like that! it works well, I had to adjust it a little though as it was a bit wide for my head! :lmao: before that I have used a bum bag and just popped my specs into that to keep them safe - I was always paranoid about losing them and a friend lost his on Journey to Atlantis in Sea World.

DH however always wears his - without any protection (ahhem) and he has managed to keep them on ok, but personally I wouldn't risk it.

I don't wear 'ordinary' glasses, but I use a 'croakie' for my sunglasses and find it works really well - especially great for the water parks and outdoor coasters like BTMR when I really want to keep them on.

DH sometimes wears glasses (also has contacts) and did lose them once - coming down a water slide . The CM insisted they close down the slide while a diver went down to retrieve them  DH doesn't wear his glasses on water slides any more ...:teeth:

You can buy croakies in lots of places around the parks, pretty much anywhere they sell sunglasses. Much cheaper outside of the parks though ;)

DH has a couple of those croakies (although I didn't know that's what they were called) which he uses for his sunglasses. opefully, as they're adjustable, they should be OK for DD :)

I will definitely be getting her a spare pair of glasses though, just to be on the safe side.

I am a glasses wearer and always take a spare pair. I almost lost mine on Kraken and did lose them on a flume at Wet and Wild.(rescued by a lifeguard I might add!)
I would say make sure you take them off on the faster rides and in the water parks. Take the spare pair Joh!

Dh wears glasses and i make him take them off for fast rides.I would take a spare pair though!

Both DH and I wear glasses and although we are both too much of a wuss to do any fast rides :scared1::scared1: we always take a spare pair in case we were to break them. I wouldn't want to waste valuable holiday time having to sort out replacements! :)

Totally agree, but would add that DH needed a repair to his glasses last year on the Gulf Coast and we were absolutley astounded at the fantastic service he received in an opticians there. Ist class service, minimal charge, wonderful result. :)

If you do get a croaky that isn't adjustable the best thing to do is tie a knot in the middle so it's at the back of her head. Not sure if they come in mini sizes but my whole family have used these for years including rock n roller and many other coasters and touch wood no probs so far :woohoo:

Hi, I'm very paranoid about losing my specs as I'm very short sighted and useless with out them, and I'm the driver, organiser, planner, etc! I asked on most rides about wearing them, rock n roller coaster said they should be ok, the main problem they have is with hats! However, I took them off for this ride and the hulk, and kept them in my bumbag. Anything upside down I would imagine would dislodge them. You do see many people with sunglasses and eye glasses on though. Everything else I've been fine with.

I wore contacts for years but switched back to specs before my last trip. I made sure to tighten my glasses before I went away and had no problems on any of the rides but have to admit to being a bit paranoid of losing them as I am blind as a bat. I'm going to get another pair before we go back in April and have one of those string things attached to them.
