My DD just told me that some WDW resorts changed their policies some time ago to allow pets and wants to bring her dog - and if possible a friend and their dogs - for a short stay. She says she hunted all over Disney's site for specific restrictions regarding number, size, and breed but was unable to find the information. She even went so far as to start booking a room and got all the way to the payment page without any reference to pets. Does anyone have a link that would help? Many TIA!

You will need to call and add your dog to the reservation. We are staying in the cabins in December with our dog.

No breed restrictions. Certain hotels only. $50-$75 extra per night to bring the dog. 2 dogs are allowed.

Before taking the word of anyone here...contact wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com

There are still WDW sites that are saying it will end in Oct. I would also not take the word from a reservation CM.

Totally agree. I would not take the word of a reservations CM--call Guest Services or email direct. I've seen many conflicting stories about this, so I wouldn't count on anything past October yet.

Agree with you both. In fact, since this is a trial that goes until October & it is only July, I would be surprised if Disney management has even made a decision yet. So even guest services can only give the info that they have today. Doesn’t mean it will be the final word come October.

While this may be true I wouldn't be booking a room at a resort after October specifically so I could bring my dog to Disney. That's just inviting disappointment.

I'm not dismissing anyone's opinion. I just called again and spoke to guest services and they stated it is permanent now for the policy to continue. I do have a backup in place but this is the 3rd guest services member to agree it has been extended.:duck:
I wish they would just release a statement either way.

I sent an email to George K. and asked what is going on as far as a decision on the pet policy. John, from GK office, just called me. The official word from his office is they have not made a decision on whether the pet policy stays or goes come Oct. If you wish to get the official word email George.Kalogridis@disney.com That goes to the office of the President of Disney World Resorts.

I'm keeping my backup just incase. I wish guest services would not say things that are not true.

I will email his office about this as well

I wish they'd make a decision so that those of us who have severe allergies, but who would consider staying at one of the Dog-friendly resorts, knew how to proceed. I mean, obviously I need to make decisions based on the side of safety for myself, but....if they wouldn't wait till the last minute, it would be helpful. :dogdance:

If Guest Services is consistent about anything it’s having incorrect info and making up info as they go. The Disney mantra of never saying “I don’t know” has led to volumes of bad info.

Right now they should just stick to all the website info - “It ends in October, no further info at this time.” If top corporate says they haven’t decided then there is nothing in front of these CMs telling them otherwise. They are just trying to book rooms.

I don't normally trust reservation cms but they have put me on hold and then got guest services and even the manager of fort wilderness to confirm it would continue. They need to be consistent for sure.

I have heard that Ft. Wilderness, if that's the one with the cabins, will be the only one to still allow dogs after October.

Did you speak to the manager?

This would make sense and I've said all along that a campground has the community that has always embraced pets. It would make sense for here since the cabins are not connected. I personally would like to see the program stop at the other Disney resorts.

I just got back from Disney and I stayed offsite at a hotel that is completely geared to dogs (Home2Suites) and there were dogs there. BUT as with most the industry THEY HAVE RULES. Disney opted to not do this.

Fort Wilderness is one of the places that allowed dogs before the dog policy change anyway, so even if they were to revert back to the old policy, they'd be allowed in some areas. So you wouldn't have to worry in the cabins.

Just spoke to a cast member who said they received an email last week saying the program would continue and no changes. He pulled the email up while I was on the phone with him! Yea!! Said no changes and would continue. He said it was up in the air for a while but did get the email last week confirming it. I'm so happy.
