Specific Room Requests

What is the best way to request a specific bldg./room? We will be staying at CBR and have seen posts that we would rather not stay at Trinidad South. I think everyone seems to prefer Martinique. Also, we would like non-smoking, ground floor. Did I read something about faxing a request 3 days before check-in? Thanks in advance,
