Hi! I just on the Disney site that magical express isn't offered for DD hotels. Is this true? I read it on ME faqs. I am staying at the POR resort. Anyone know if there is a wheelchair van for people using ME?

Thanks,

Ashley

When they say DD hotels, they mean the hotels that are actually in DD, and not owned by Disney. The DD area resorts...OKW, SSR, POR and POFQ are all included in DME, since they are owned and run by Disney.
I can't give you an answer about the wheelchair though. Anyone else???

Mears has a number of wheelchair vehicles. I would think they would use them for the Mears shuttle or the taxi fleet. I do not know if the ME is able to get a wheelchair vehicle beings the ME is set up as a mass transit operation. Disney and Mears are linked so maybe there are some arrangements to use those vehicles. Calle Mears Transportation for more information.

Yes, Magical Express is FULLY capable of providing DME transportation to Guests in wheelchairs. You simply need to let them know in advance that you will need a bus that can accommodate your chair.
And to expand on the first response above, "DD" hotels refers to the hotels on Hotel Plaza Boulevard - Disney owns the land but not the hotels. YOUR hotel, Port Orleans Riverside, is most assuredly a Disney-owned hotel and you are eligible for Magical Express. There's NO need for you to PAY for transportation when Disney will get you there FREE.
At any rate, do NOT call Mears for information about Disney's Magical Express. Call Disney.

::yes::
Even though ME uses the big tour type buses, they are wheelchair accessible and almost all are equipped with lifts and wheelchair tie downs. I don't remember if those buses can hold 2 wheelchairs, like the regular WDW transportation buses or if they can only hold one wheelchair/ECV.
As was already said, let them know in advance and when you check in for your ride.
