I noticed on the DDP it mentions "non alcoholic, non specialty drink." Does this just refer to drinks in souvenir glasses and such, or does it mean milkshakes and lemonades with strawberry bits in it?

(I ask because I was heavily considering milkshaking out lol) :flower1:

It depends on the restaurant. I think most places that have milkshakes on the menu allow them for your drink (or dessert). Some of the other non-traditional drinks are up to each place. Just ask your server when you're ordering.

In most cases I think you'll find milkshakes are a specialty drink. DDP pretty much includes the basics. Soft drinks, tea, coffee, milk, etc.

The dining plan typically refers to the standard non-alcoholic fountain drinks such as soda, coffee, tea, iced tea, lemonade - basically the drinks that come with free refills at TS or the ones that you find at food courts and QS that are filled from a dispenser. The Disney owned restaurants often have additional choices so if you see something on a menu that interests you, ask if it is included. We've had milkshakes, smoothies, specialty coffees and teas, pressed pot coffee and non-alcoholic cocktails at various restaurants.

The non-Disney owned places have fewer options because they are reimbursed according to the rules of the plan so there are not many options beyond the standard fountain beverages.

On the new rules at quick service you can have any "snack" at that location instead of a drink. So at quick service that have slushies etc then that can be your drink.

I did hear that Sci-Fi will give you a milkshake as your drink. So there's one for you! :)

I'd love to know of other specific places that will do the same.

50s Prime Time and Whispering Canyon Cafe are 2 others that are frequently mentioned.
