Special western itinerary after 2006?

Does anyone know for sure or have any guesses as to whether or not DCL will keep the special western itinerary after 2006? I booked an Eastern Caribbean for 2006 because we'll be doing some of the same ports that are on the western itinerary during our 2005 RCI cruise, plus I've really wanted to do an Eastern Caribbean for awhile now. I'd rather not second guess myself about my choice (love the idea of CC twice) but I'd feel much better knowing that the special western itinerary would continue after 2006 and I could book a special western cruise for 2007 while on my 2006 cruise!! Whew...hope you could follow all that!!

No one on this board would know (I bet even Disney knows) if they will do this again in 2007. Up until they announced 2006, there was a lot of discussion as to whether the Magic would go back to California again in 2006. Now we know it will stay on the East coast.

You can book a cruise onboard for the discount and then move it later to another date (at least that is what I have been told).

If you want to do the cruise with two stops to CC you may want to give it consideration for 2006. Who knows what 2007 will bring!

Thanks DJ! I don't know what to do. We would be sailing in September and with it being prime hurricane season I guess there would be a chance of not seeing CC at all! I think I'll chance keeping the Eastern itinerary (especially since we got the exact cabin we wanted and have a GREAT rate) and if it was meant to be they'll continue the itinerary in 2007. Thanks again!

Just FYI, our family has cruised every September for the last 5 years (started in 2000). Up until this year we NEVER missed a port, had beautiful weather and enjoyed the low prices!

This year, well we were on the September 18th Magic that had to let people off on Friday night to get away before Hurricane Jeanne. It was annoying, and yes we missed CC (but not the other ports earlier in the week), but we still had a nice time. NOW I do realize that other weeks had it worse than us, BUT I wouldn't hesitate to sail again in September if it weren't for the fact that my twins will be going to Middle School next year and we decided that we are going to work around the school schedule for now on.

Anyway, you can never tell what will happen, but I wouldn't let this strange year stop me from going in September again.

Of course everyone has to decide for themselves. You can't beat the prices in September (I am already having sticker shock knowing that I am going to be paying quite a bit more for a 4 night spring break cruise from teh 7 night I just did in September).

DJ...
We sailed Aug 30-Sept 4th on the Wonder last year. I never really thought about hurricane season at the time and luckily we didn't have anything other than perfect weather! After this year the only thing that has changed is the fact that I'm going to purchse cruise insurance for the first time. I'm still not sure where to start since it's all a little overwhelming for me but I do have some time. We're lucky in regards to the school dilema since I homeschool but I do have a professional ballerina in the making and have auditions and rehersals to now schedule around! Thanks again for all the advice!!

PS... I do agree about the prices...WOW...I couldn't imagine paying what some people have to pay in order to sail during the spring/summer breaks!!! :faint:

Yes, we have been homeschooling (and still are), but decided to have them try school next year for middle school. So we have to adjust our way of thinking quite a bit (we are use to going and doing as we please for all of these years).

My DDs are also in dance and have competitions, but we have those in April and May, so those months are out for us to go places.

Anyway, good luck! While we were on the Magic last month my girls met other kids that homeschool too! I know the first year we went I was shocked at the number of kids onboard. I didn't realize people in some schools can take kids out for trips (here they threaten to send children's services to check out your home if you miss too many days and vacations are not excused---it is going to be a HARD adjustment for ME  ).

Hope your plans work out!

Thanks again! I hope the transition goes well for both you and the kids! Sounds like your public schools have the same "ideals" as the ones in my area.

Maybe we'll see ya' on the Magic sometime! FYI, we'll be on the Sept 2-9th 2006 cruise in case you want to try and join us! Take care and good luck!! :D
