Special WDW magic in October?.........

We're going to WDW in October 2007 for 1 week (first week in Oct.). We'll be attending Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party. Are there other Halloweenish things going on in the parks during October? Are there special autumn themes or decorations during that time?

We'll also hit the Epcot Food & Wine Festival. Does anyone know about this festival? Does it take a special ticket? Can you sample wines & foods for free with just your park ticket?

I'd love any information you have about Disney magic in October.

September 6 - October 28, 2007
During this special travel time, your family can dance and sing with Playhouse Disney in Concert presented by HUGGIES and PULL-UPS. Playhouse Disney favorites - The Doodlebops, Johnny and the Sprites and Dan Zanes - are just a few of the acts scheduled to appear. There will also be special Disney entertainment created just for you and your little one.

Also, I believe there are kiosks in Epcot for the Food and Wine Festival, but I always thought you had pay for the food/wine, like any snack. It will be interesting to see the answers you get....Oct. looks like a fantastic time to go!

We will be there the 1st week of Oct too. My favorite thing is the Halloween stuff to buy in the resort areas. I love the pumpkin Mickey buckets...I am assuming this stuff will be out by then...they also have Halloween rice crispys!

You have to pay for the snacks at the Food & Wine Festival most are around $4 each

It does sound like October is a wonderful time to go!!!! Gosh, I'm REALLY looking forward to the Halloween stuff in the resort areas. I'm sure we'll be buying the buckets and any other cute Halloweenish things. I've got to figure out what my kids want to take as far as costumes, since we'll be dressing up for Mickey's Halloween Party.

The little ones magic hour -- that's when you go early to MK and play with the characters, right? I know my kids would love that. And the Travel Time -- we watch the Disney Channel here, so we will definitely go to that show. Is it @ MK or Disney Studios?

halloween is our favorite holiday so im glad to hear that the parks will be decorated and such...we'll be there too!!

The Food & Wine Festival -- I thought it was a time to sample foods & wines from all over the world? I mean, we do that whenever we go to Epcot anyway , but I was just wondering because usually when you go to a food & wine festival, you sample things. Anyway, I guess the foods from the festival are counted as "snacks" then? I guess I'm surprised that you'd have to pay for all of them. I recently went to a wine festival here at home, and there were 500 wines to sample .

There are dozens of booths set up around the World Showcase at the F&W Festival. Each has 2 or 3 appetizer/entree selections plus a dessert; along with beer and wine tastings for purchase. It is a fun way to spend an afternoon, wandering to each kiosk around the World Showcase, sampling their wares. I look forward to it every year!

There ARE free wine, beer, and food seminars available. But you have to get in line at certain times to get a seat. You can have an hour-long wait to get into a popular tasting. Some of the free scheduled tastings you can sign up for in the morning and then show up later at the allotted time.

October/November are great times to be in WDW! Have fun!

We have been this time of they year for the last 5 in a row. This is hands down both our favorites! My DH LOVES the food and wine festival. He is a foodie and I'm not, so this gives him a chance to try all the unique foods that I wouldnt go near....yes I am a picky eater, but wish I wasnt!

You will see more adults in Epcot for this event and more locals come as well. You do have to pay for each "taste" but the portion size is just about right. I would say we spend more money during this event than other trips to the world, but then we are also trying more wines and we usually dont drink.

MNSSHP is my favorite "event" This is also my favoite parade....just remember to nap that day and make dinner reservations in advance if you intend to eat in the park.

At one time the wilderness campgrounds did a hayride..does anyone know if they still do this?

I saw that someone had all the details on the food and wine festival on the disboards but I dont remember which thread it was....sorry. I think the Disney site is REALLY thin on information for these two events.

Yes, they still do the Spooky Hayrides during October! The actual regular hayride is year round. Tickets are first come first served...

OhmyGOODNESS, the Spooky Hayrides sound wonderful!!!! I'm so glad I know about that, now, so we can plan for it.

Halloween Costumes: Do the kids just wear their costumes to MNSSHP, or are their other events to wear your costume? I think my husband has a couple of princess dinners reserved, and my daughter is going to be Ariel, so she will wear her costume to the dinners. I think my son will like to wear his pirate costume, too.

I was going to look for some face paint this year, too, to give the costumes a little more glitz.

The weather in October is hot, right? I'm thinking we should to shorts with my son's pirate costume.

I know someone said they have halloweenish stuff to buy at the resorts, does anyone know if this would include halloweenish Disney t-shirts as well?
I'm not dressing in costume, leaving that to DS, but would like a Disney themed halloween t-shirt to wear to MNSSHP and pretty sure I won't find one near home before we go.

FW HAUNTED HAYRIDETickets are only available for same day purchase and are first-come-first-served. They go on sale at 9am at the FW Kennel. The Hayride departs from Pioneer Hall starting at dusk and takes approx 6 trips a night. Adults are $15, kids are $10.

The hayride itself doesn't seem too scary- a storyteller is along for the ride and tells the story of the Headless Horseman on the ride. From the description, it sounds like the HH makes an appearance during the ride! The hayride is 15-20 mins long.

How do you get the tickets? Is this something you can buy in advance or do you buy it right at the attraction? Does anyone know the schedule/frequency of these and how much the hayrides cost?
