Hi! I've heard that if you go to the MK in a certain spot before the parade, you can get invited to go on top of a building and watch the parade. Are there any oppertunities such as this during Illuminations? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We once watched from the deck at the Rose & Crown, it was awesome... they even let us walk down to the lower level to have a better view.

Rose and Crown is great. About 30% of the tables have a great view of the show. We've been very lucky, getting one of those tables three times out of the eight times we've had dinner there.

I don't know of any treats like being given a great spot by CMs but I totally agree about the Rose & Crown. Even if you don't snag a table outside the staff have no problem with you going outside to watch Illuminations and coming in again to finish your dessert when the 'show' is finished. We were put under no pressure at all to finish up our meal. We had a great night and were glad not to snag a table outside as there was quite a downpour!!

Another option, if you have the budget, is to book an Illuminations cruise so you get to watch it from the lake.

Where is this location in MK??? We are going next month!

I think we need some clarification here.

Besides Cindarella Castle in the Magic Kindgom (probably where Tink takes off from at the beginning of Wishes), I don't believe there is anywhere inside the park that you can see Illuminations at Epcot from the Magic Kindgom.

From the top of the Contemporary, you can see the fireworks at all of the WDW parks, as well as SeaWorld and Universal. At a distance, of course.

She asked correctly you just have to read it again. She asked if there was something like that at EPCOT. And, no there isn't.

Ah, I apologize. I guess I did read it wrong. Sorry!

I have never heard of anything like this for Epcot. There are some excellent spots though. The R&C lower patio is great, but can be hard to get. This is not something that you can be selected for by a CM though.

I seem to remember, however, something about a button or something to start Illuminations... Maybe someone can elaborate.

There are a few "special" ways to see Illuminations, though not in the same way as OP cited for MK. They're not free and not easy to get.

-- Dining outside at Rose & Crown has already been mentioned. Unfortunately there is no way to guarantee an outdoor table or a good view.

-- You can take an "Illuminations Cruise", and watch from a boat underneath the bridge between France and UK. (http://allearsnet.com/btp/illum.htm )

-- You can take part in an "Illuminations Dessert Party", which can be part of a "Magical Gathering" (http://allearsnet.com/pl/magath.htm ) or by special arrangement by large parties. These seem to take place in a roped off area near the French pavilion that is an excellent viewing location.

No doubt there are other such opportunities I'm not aware of. Anyone?

We did the Illuminations Cruise. We enjoyed it thoroughly but probably wouldn't do it again. My daughter was there last week she and a friend ate at L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante in Italy and had a great view. I think they actually were inside by the window and the music was piped into the restaurant. She said it was a really unexpected surprise.

We always book dinner at Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki in Japan and then sit out on the deck to watch Illuminations. It's great because the deck is upstairs.
