What are some things you do for your children while at WDW to make their vacation special? Something that puts that huge smile on their face that makes you realize why you became a mom or dad? Something to make wonderful memories they will pass on to their children?

When she was younger I would buy something small she was looking at the day before at have it in her pocket when she got dressed that next morning.

Now She (12) just is all over herself just to be able to go as much. You would think the PAP's were solid gold .

DH and I planned a few surprises for DS our last trip (Family Magic Tour, parasailing). Also let him pick our itinerary for a day. Purchased some things he was eyeing and had it shipped home, so it was waiting for his return. Let him stay up way past his bedtime. Ride both BTMR and KRR (we were drenched afterwards) over five times in a row. And swim with the sharks numerous times at TL.

This trip, besides taking one of DS's friends with us for two weeks, we will be doing the Epcot Aqua Seas Tour.

I have made the kids little goodie bags and have them find them on the bed in our room. It has Disney stuff that I have picked up at the dollar stores or in our local Disney stores. I also plan on one day that they can pick whatever they want to do. I will give them 3 choices or so the night before. I of course, have already made ADR's for all choices, then cancel the ones we won't use that day. They get so excited and it's fun to let them have some decisions also!

With our last trip (January 06) the trip was a surprise for my 2 and 4 year old. They were THRILLED! We also had booked several character meals for them at CP, CRT, and CM.

This time the trip is also a surprise and we have booked dinner at Park Fare and CP. They are huge Disney fantatics (must be genetic) so the whole thing is special and a surprise and they loved every minute of their trip in Jan. They are STILL talking about it DAILY! :Pinkbounc

The Family Magic Tour was probably my favorite thing that we've done. I have the cutest picture of my sons (3 and 5 at the time) looking at Peter Pan and walking hand and hand with him! Priceless! :goodvibes

My sons also LOVE the character meals. They even enjoy watching the characters interact with the other guests. It's magic to them! :wizard:

Another cool thing was being at Toon Town when they dropped the rope (1 hour after the park opened). My son got to walk with Max and Goofy to Goofy's Barnstormer. Then he rode the ride with Max. He felt very special and it was something he will always remember!

Hope that helps! :sunny:

Something I did last year, thanks to great ideas here on the DIS. I made invitations for my girls to each of the character meals we had...they didn't know where we were going each day...so I'd "slip" the invite under the door...from Cinderella (CRT), Mickey (CF's), Eeypre (CP), Jasmine (Epcot) etc....I just made them up on my computer using pretty fonts and scrapbook material....they really enjoyed waking up to see "who we're eating with" today.

I love this idea as well. I will do this for our next trip which unfortunately is not planned yet.

One other thing I love to do for my dds is to wrap a small gift for each day we are there. It isn't anything expensive but it is something memorable for them. I also buy these things before we go and have them already wrapped. For instance my dd4 loves princess princess: so I get princess paper and little trinkets for her. For my dd16 I buy Pooh paper and purchase small items that will put a smile on her face :sunny: every morning.

Usually these things are also needed for the trip like socks, tee-shirts, or pen.

I just love Disney

We are going to be there for DD's 8th birthday (surprise trip), and I have booked her on the GF pirate cruise - she is a pirate fanatic, so this will be perfect for her. We've also got breakfast booked at Akerhus with the princesses.

Bumping in hopes of some more great ideas being posted! Thanks!! :thumbsup2

Bumping one last time in hopes that there are more DISers willing to share some of their GREAT ideas!! :) Thanks in advance!

Last trip, I gave "tinkerbell" gifts. After the DS then 4 and DD then 10 (yes 10!!! and still believes in the magic) I left little trinkets from the dollar store ,etc. like a pen and autograph book, trading pins, safari gear themed fo course the days events. They liked the Disney dollars-- they could shop on their own.

I also had a gift basket from Peggy Sweats and more and it had all their favorite treats and barrets, atenna mickey for DH and snacks delievered. I just orderd another for my trip in June. Her baskets are great.

I also left "packages" in the DS and DD name at the front desk. DS got a stuffed Eeyore with a note from him etc.

Have a great time, whatever you end up doing your kids will love it!!!

Thanks so much for these, I'll have to use the invitation idea. I was going to mail them to our daughters to recieve at home but I think under the door in the morning is a better idea!

I'm going to do this too but I'm going to have the little trinkets from one of the Disney characters that make a surprise visit to our room each morning.
