Special Events on Movie Release Days?

As I was doing some fastpass planning for our March trip, I just realized that we will be at MK and have dinner reservations for Be Our Guest on March 17th - the same day at the new Beauty and the Beast movie comes out. Is there any track record of Disney doing anything extraordinary at the parks on days that movies are released? It would be very cool if there was something special at Be Our Guest, or anywhere at the park on that day. Wasn't sure if they did anything like that in the past. Thanks!

I wouldn't be surprised if they did, but its not a regular thing.

Not really a special event but last year we were at DHS the same day the new Star Wars came out and as entering they gave us BB-8 pins, they were cute. This year we were there same day Rouge One came out and got Rouge One pins. Nothing crazy but maybe they'll hand out some pins?

My nephew and his wife received "Tomorrowland" pins from the GM people at the exit of Test Track back when that movie came out...they were nice ones, like in the movie.

I was wondering the same thing, since I'm gonna be there on release day as well.

We were there on release days before and nothing at all happened. I think we were even at allstar movies when Herbie fully loaded came out. Seems like there's always a new movie in June, and June is always when we have gone.

Lately there has been characters getting into the parks much earlier so you can go meet them when you get excited abotu the movie.. Disney parks blog has also been doing meetups for a screening of the movie usually a day, maybe two earlier at the amc in springs (but not always there, they are getting more creative in where they do it). nothign really special on the day (they do want you in the theater, not the parks).

We were there for a 24 hour disney day that happened to be when Malificent was hitting theaters. We were given pins (size of celebration pins) but that was all. The pins were nice and we still have them.

Actually, there was also the "invitation only" Maleficent M&G at that 24-hour party. There were people in movie T-shirts who walked through the park and invited people to the M&G with the Jolie-version. It was once of twice Jolifecent has been available for M&Gs (Villains Unleashed was the other time and she was TOTALLY worth the two-hour wait).

thinking back, it's more likely merch shows up. I know some movies had magicbands for them. You just have to look out and it won't be a giant thing that happens if they do something.
