We're trying to decide when to visit UO later this year. When does the Christmas celebration normally start? Is there anything going on between HHN & the Christmas festivities? We're not really interested in HHN, but we would like to plan the trip as far away from Christmas Day as possible. This trip is to celebrate our Oct. anniversary, so we don't want to go earlier than Oct. Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi homie you are missed on the old sans thread

You should check in there sometime!
( and everyone else too should drop in there)

I need to look back to last years theads to see dates Christmas decorations went up
I thought it was on the first but will check it out for you

Last year it was the first week of December. We had wanted to go the last week of November (had plans the first week of December), but ended up pushing it off till Mid December so we could take in all the Christmas Festivities.

They usually have some decorations up mid November, but the full Christmas stuff typically hasn't started until the first weekend of December.

Rumors: This year there are strong rumors that they are going to overhaul the Christmas lineup there, at least on the studios side and possibly add Harry Potter events around the Yule Ball, and possibly add more to the New York area of the park to line up more with what they do in New York City at Rockerfeller Center, which could be a much larger light show to try to grab some of the crowds that went for the Osborne lights last year at Disney.

They usually don't release the details of it until the fall though.

Why didn't I think to search for Christmas threads here? I did search the internet for UO Christmas dates & couldn't find anything helpful.

I'll try to stop by the chat thread, when I find time. I've started working, since I used to post there. Plus, my doctor put me on a diet that requires everything be cooked from scratch. Previously, I cooked maybe once a week. I don't seem to have time for anything fun anymore. :sad2:

Thanks for the reply. November would be much better for us too. I'm hesitant to plan a trip so close to Christmas, but we may decide to do that. We have to go to NC for Christmas, because all our family lives there. That's a lot of time off combined with a lot of expense in a short amount of time. :scratchin

Thanks for the info. The rumors sound very promising. We'll miss the Osborne lights. Something similar would be great! Fingers crossed that the additions will convince them to start the festivities earlier this year. It would be nice, if they'd start the majority of the Christmas events in early November. The Macy's parade would have to wait, but it seems they could start everything else earlier, if they chose to.

Tarheelmjfan, if I had to cook everything from sratch, I would certainly be thin

Don't have the patience or time to do that for every meal I put in my mouth

Well, I do make my noodles from sratch but never bread the old fashioned way

If you have a full and activate month around Christmas, November might be a better time for your darkside trip

We were very hesitant to go that close to Christmas as well. We ended up making it a short trip, but it was so worth it. I loved all the Christmas festivities, especially The Grinch. We had such a good time that we are planning on going back again this December. It was a nice break in the middle of all the Christmas chaos.
