Hello!! Need a little help on where to go for a great dinner w/ DH.

A little background -

Reservation will have to be after 8:30. Finishing up a conference at 7:30 at the Swan and will need disney transportation time.

Not too worried about cost - figuring around $35-40 per person.

We usually do not do reservations and will do counter service most all this trip due to my conference. We never at at any of the resorts but hear they are wonderful.

Like all kinds of food - so nothing is off limits.

Was thinking O'hana's? Reviews seemed pretty well and right up my DH's meat loving alley. But wanted to hear what all of you suggest.

Thanks, everyone!!!

Hi :goodvibes
Well, since you are staying at the Swan, why not eat at one of their, or the Dolphin resorts restaurants? In my opinion, they are better than the "disney" eateries..

For example, Blue Zoo in the dolphin resort is FANTASTIC. both the food and the atmosphere.

A lot of people really enjoy the Italian restaurant, Il Mulino in the Swan as well.

You can go to this website, www.Allears.net
And check out menus :thumbsup2

If you really want 'ohana, I suggest you take a cab rather than relying on the disney busses at that hour...just my opinion.... hope this helps!

Since you are both meat lovers, 'Ohana should be enjoyed, but keep in mind, it will not be quiet if you are looknig for romance .

Ohana's is a meat lovers paradise! Excellent beef, pork, shrimp and chicken grilled on skewers. Sticky wings with peanut sauce are also great as is the salad and bread pudding dessert. Everything is all you can eat brought to your table. But you will most certainly need a reservation.

Ignore a few bad reviews of Ohana that mention dried out overcooked meats. Ask your server to bring you the meats cooked to your liking. We've always gotten everything perfect.

From Swan you'll have to get to Epcot or Disney Studios to catch monorail or bus to Polynesian.

Love 'Ohanas, especially if your DH likes meat! My DH and I ate their for our 25th wedding anniversary and loved it. You will need ressies, but the later in the day, the easier it is to get. Good luck and enjoy, no matter where you eat!:)

Unless you're on the dining plan (if you're staying at the Swan you aren't on the plan) I wouldn't leave the Swan/Dolphin, but their really good restaurants - you're probably not going to get out of there at $40 a person, definitely not if you order wine.

I am not sure I can recommend 'Ohana for a special meal for adults, certainly not if they are looking for quiet time.

From Swan you'll have to get to Epcot or Disney Studios to catch monorail or bus to Polynesian.

You'd have to walk through Epcot from the International Gateway to get to the monorail. If you don't have a ticket that will allow you to do that, it won't really work. You'd need to either go up to DHS (walking or by boat) and take the bus to the Polynesian - remember it will stop at the Contemporary first - OR the bus to TTC (you can walk to the Polynesian from the TTC) or, take the bus from the Swan to the Magic Kingdom and board the monorail or boat from there to the Polynesian. If you're really going to try going from the Swan to the Polynesian for a late dinner, I'd take a taxi, especially since you will have to pay a $20 fee if you miss your 'Ohana reservation.

:) I second Bluezoo...our meal last year was very good. Service was very good. It is a larger restuarant and right near the front door of the Dolphin. We had a very good experience eating there and I am planning another evening there in May. DH got one of the best desserts I have every had there. I think we got a flatbread that was on par with California Grill's. he got monk fish and I can't remember what I had. He really liked the fish. We went earlier in the day around 5:30. By the time we left things were getting cranked up near the bar because there was a convention having a party there. I would cool my heels there or head over to Shulas. I wouldn't try to get way over to Ohana...plus the Boardwalk is right there for a stroll.

If you do head to the Poly, grab a cab. It will run about $20 one way. Then go to MK and grab the bus back....if MK is open after 9 that night.

:) If you are looking for a good steak...Cali Grill has a great Filet, you would have to get to the Contemporary Resort. They also have good sushi and you can watch wishes usually around 9:30 or so from the balcony. Teh lights are dimmed and they pip the music in. It is a more "adult" restaurant...and one we have to do twice in May. :thumbsup2

Well, the restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin definitely fit the bill for providing great food and a lovely atmosphere, but you won't be able to eat there with the budget you've given us. Even without wine.

Ohana's is do-able price wise. And you say your DH will like the menu (mine calls it Carnivore Heaven). But neither it or CG are what I would select for a 'special' dinner. Have you considered Sanaa? Lovely restaurant with a very nice menu and reasonable prices. You'd definitely need to go by taxi though.
