Special 9/1/08 Cruise Continued - Part 3

Elaine! I will be praying. How awful. One can NEVER be completely prepared when something like that happens. Please just take one thing at a time and look ahead to your Mom's birthday trip.

We have RAIN, wind gusts, close Lightning, and basement flooding. The water is pouring over the house gutters and going straight down the sides of the house. Our window wells are overflowing and the water is going straight to the crawlspace. The space rugs are soaked, but at least are acting like huge sponges. Joe's Coca-Cola collection is all in the crawlspace. :scared1:

The awful thing is even if we pull it out, we really have no more space to put anything (SIGH). The lightning is so close we can't go outside to bail out the window wells.:scared1:

All of my Christmas Trees are there. Of course, nothing is in plascit bins... they are all cardboard... wet, soggy cardboard.:scared1:

We had a WONDERFUL trip... new furniture, EARL'S, Cracker Barrel, Bay Lake Tower preview, and planning for our December trip. Our bedroom now has all white beachy furniture, all quite appropriate for Mouse Beach. Leslie came over to share the excitement and gave her good housekeeping stamp of approval.:goodvibes

Now, I don't even want to think of tonight and tomorrow... off to search for at least one of our 2 Shop Vacs.:scared1:

Hey everyone. Sorry to hear about the water problems Elaine and Georgie.

For those of you who don't Facebook, plus a few more details for those that do, Friday night Bill was admitted to the hospital with chest pain. After a couple procedures the last two nights, we will be here now for 4-7 more days. Please keep Bill in your thoughts and prayers. I asked today because Bill's sister wanted to know and they said his condition is somewhere between stable and guarded.

Tracy, I saw your post on Facebook, but couldn't get to the comments. Yes, Bill will be in our prayers... as will you. Do keep us posted. I've known prayer to be the greatest force on the planet! :cloud9:

Get some rest and please take care of yourself.

We found one shop vac, but it won't fit into the crawlspace. Joe has called a company to come out to help. The best thing we can do tonight will be to get some rest to face tomorrow. Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers.

pixiedust:to Tracy and Bill!

pixiedust: to Elaine for her flooding issues and

pixiedust:to Georgie for her flooding issues!

Sounds like there have been enough problems going around.

Have a great day all!

Woke up early. Can already smell the mildew down in the crawl space. Joe called on his way into work. There are trees snapped in half strewn along the route into the office, Thankfully, with all of our trees, none fell. I'll be waiting for everyone to come today, and Joe will come home when he can. How I wish I was back at Mouse Beach!

Good Morning Folks!

Georgie, glad you did not have trees to worry about as well as your crawl space! Hope you can get that cleaned up soon!

We have heavy rain forecast for today - I headed out for our dog walk this morning, and saw lightning in the distance - so I only did a short walk - right now the clouds have cleared off, may try for a bike ride after breakfast.

Have a great day everyone!

Tracy and Bill, Elaine and Margaret, Georgie and Joe,

Tons of pixiedust: coming your way.

Update from Canada

OMG Georgie...I know exactly what you are going through...we have tons of stuff in our crawlspace....right now it is the only place in the basement that still has any water...the restoration guys were here last night and today. carpetting is all gone and they said the tile floor underneath is in good condition...no lifting...they are pretty sure we will be able to salvage all our furniture...a lot of my scrapbooking books (not MY scrapbooks) were damaged and are being tossed....the restoration company has been great....Mom and I are however sick of the fans....

Georgie....we will keep you in our thoughts and prayers....

Tracy....we will keep you and Bill in our thoughts and prayers as well....

Tracy, so sad to hear about Bill. Take good care of him. And yourself too.

Elaine & Georgie....
sorry about all the rain and flooding. Wow. What a headache.
Good luck on the clean up.

I kinda feel guilty to say this, but the weather here was great today.
Chance of precipitation tomorrow evening.
We have had a lot of rain this year. Hopefully the heavy stuff will be done for a while.

Hope everybody's week is better than the start.
Later.

JUst like Lynn says, hang in there you guys.

Hi everyone. Thanks for the well wishes.

Thankfully, yesterday was a beautiful sunny day. We were able to pull some things out of the basement to air dry before placing them into our newly delivered pack rat.

Many items were covered in mold, which lets me know there has been a water problem for a while (sigh). How we could have so much stuff is unreal to me. Some of Joe's Coca-Cola collection is gone... so sad.

I had to smile on one thing... Does anyone remember the game Go For Broke? That was laying in a puddle of water. :rotfl2: Needless to say, out to the trash it went!

Our insurance would only give us $300! :scared1: We are up the creek on this one. We have a fan set up and purchased a second dehumidifier. Both are running full force!!!

Back at work this morning, trying not to think about the mountain ahead.

Georgie - good luck with the "mountain" you left at home! That is a terrible way to be forced to get rid of you "stuff".

Bob - weather cleared up yesterday and I got a nice bike ride in, it was back to rain by the time Scott got home - so he did not get out for a bike ride. Today is cloudy and cooler again, but no lightning, so we (the dogs and I) got our 3 miles in this morn. But it now looks like it might start raining any minute, so I do not think I will get in the bike ride today.

More pixiedust: and :grouphug: for Tracy and Bill, Georgie and Joe, and Elaine and Margaret, and for any one else in need today!

Have a great day all!

Thanks everyone for your well wishes....today was another day spent cleaning out the wet stuff.....I lost some of my treasured Disney books...I am hoping that I will be able to replace them on our upcoming WDW trips....

Georgie...I am so sorry your insurance company isn't backing you guys on this one...we have no idea if we are covered or not. Money has never been discussed with the contractor...when I called he asked if we had house insurance and who our insurance company was. When I answered his questions, he told me everything will be alright so I am *hoping* it will be covered, but if not, I know God (& my Dad) will make sure that money will appear to cover the bills....

Our driveway currently has a mountain of stuff in it, we have to leave everything that is of any value for the insurance adjuster to see....then it can be disposed of...I agree it is a tough way to "have to" get rid of stuff but Mom and I have wanted to clean out the crawlspace and it seems like this was God's way of telling us it was time!!!!!!

They predicted more rain today but luckily it was only a few sprinkles....I am sure my neighbours had a laugh this afternoon watching my Mom try to open the back hatch on the van. My SIL and I had gone to take all the wet magazines and papers to the waste transfer station near our house and my Mom had got some boxes and bins from the shed and put them on the front porch...when the rain started she scrambled to but them in the back of the van....despite seeing me open the back hatch many, many times, she could find the release on the back hatch so she threw all the boxes in using the side doors....when we drove in the driveway I told my SIL that "something" was in my van. She said I was being ridiculous!!! My Mom told me I must have eagle eyes because only one box was sticking up...I said I know my van and I knew it was different!!!!!

I am staying home again tomorrow to "hopefully" finish cleaning up the crawlspace.....

Georgie...good luck with your cleaning.

Tracy...I hope Bill is doing better.

Friends came over last night and we made a human chain to transfer the wet stuff out of the crawl space, up the stairs and out onto the patio. Then we sorted, trached and placed into the PackRat!

Our friend David called another friend who brought his son. It was a lesson to us, for we always just like to do things on our own with no help. There was no way we could handle this without friends. We would still be in the crawl space!

We have a lot more work ahead of us, but the fans and dehumidifiers are drying up the moisture.

Have a GREAT DAY everyone!

Keep going Elaine! :lovestruc

Prayers for Bill and Tracy. :grouphug:

Good Morning Folks!

I am glad that you are getting stuff cleaned up Georgie and Joe, and Elaine and Margaret.

Tracy - we still have you and Bill in our thoughts and prayers!

Have a great day everyone!

Thanks everyone. Bill is doing better but still has a weird heart rhythm so they are keeping him in the hospital to monitor it for a while. Hopefully he'll come home by the weekend, but the doctor was talking about who was covering for him on the weekend so it doesn't look good.
