...I called on Thursday and got a 1BR for Sunday night at VB! (I called twice earlier in the week and there was nothing available).

We just wanted to spend a day at the beach and with MIL visiting it seemed like a good time to go. She's never been to VB with us before, so this will be a nice change for her.

AND I can take my HP book and read it all while I'm there!

Have a great time! We were in VB in May, and are about a month away from 2 nights there. We are thinking of retiring to Florida, and what you're doing is just what we hope to do, spend some time at the beach.
