The one I have growing right now is a very old bulb, and last year started sending up two new shoots next to the original bulb. Now with taking it out of dormancy, those two new shoots are coming back, and two others are starting as well. One of the new shoots appears to also be producing a small flower bud. How do I seperate these things? Do I wait until the main bulb is done flowering, and how do I do it? The shoots appear to be attached to the main bulb.

Wow, my offshoots have never produced flower stalks! Maybe that's because I've always separated them from the mother plant. So, that's what not to do, I guess.

One winter we visited Flamingo Gardens, around Ft. Lauderdale, and they had a garden of amaryllises outside, as we would have callas or glads. I had never seen them used outside before, and it was lovely.

Bobbi (oh where is the flower smilie? There's a line to "click" for other smilies, but I get nothing when I click, it's mute!)

PS. This is later and I just was checking my plants and another amaryllis is showing a flower bud. I did take better care of the plants last summer, and it's paying off.

Diane, do you have any experience with clivias? They have the same sort of leaf formation, but are not bulbs. I can grow them, but can't get them to flower much at all.
