I'm not sure if we qualify for a DAS - or even if we do, if the accommodations available will be helpful...Has anyone used DAS for a kid (ours is 7) with hypotonia (not sure if we can take a stroller for a 7 year old?!? or just do a lot of bench sitting), anxiety and sensory processing disorder. She has an IEP and gets ALL the services (OT, PT, psych, math/reading help, etc.). She has a para in the classroom. We've done WDW a few times without any accommodations - just used a stroller to help her chill out, we only spend half a day in the parks, etc. Anyone in a similar boat and has using the DAS helped? We also have food allergies - which is a whole other topic. :)

I would definitely get a stroller you can rent special needs strollers for big kids Then get a "stroller as wheelchair" tag so you can take it in lines Das wouldnot normally be given for hypotonia, since Disney considers it a mobility/stamina problem you may qualify for one if his other needs would make it difficult for him to wait in a standard line..

Unfortunately someone will need a lot more specific information as someone with the exact same diagnosis may have different experiences.

The DAS will allow you to have a return time and wait somewhere else then enter the FP line when the DAS wait has elapsed (the DAS wait is based on the stand by time at issueing time). Even having an IEP and such doesn't necessarily mean a DAS will help. You have to think about why your child needs to wait in an alternate location and not just the diagnosis.

If you have a stroller your 7 year old can safely use then yes you can use it and you can get a stroller as a wheelchair tag so you can take it into all lines.

As others mention, a "stroller as wheelchair" tag is the best accommodation for low muscle tone, and a DAS would not likely be offered. My DD was about that age when we had to look into a larger stroller for her for that very reason.

As to her other challenges, you have experience at WDW so you would need to decide if waiting outside a standard queue environment would be beneficial or not. If you do request a DAS, leave out the diagnosis terminology and anything about hher school accommodations as that has no pertinence to WDW. Explain in simple terms how she is impacted by waiting in a regular queue.

Enjoy your vacation!

I have kids with anxiety and sensory issues and those two together are justification enough for a DAS if waiting in queues would exacerbate the anxiety or sensory issues.

One of my sons has mild hypotonia. He is 10 and we don't use a stroller, but we take lots of breaks and use a DAS so he doesn't have to stand for long periods in lines. But he has sensory issues that make crowded spaces very difficult for him.

the DAS is not DX base but what your needs are waiting in the line you will need to go to GR and say why waiting out side the line will be better for your child.

a few things to do to help wether or not you get a DAS

if there are any noise problem ear protectors
for vison sensitivity sungless and a hoddy can help

and if they have any type of sensory toys bring them

and yes if they fit in a stroller and you think that will help you can ask for a stroller as a wheel chair tag
