Sparta vs Athens Debate Help!

So I jist got out of SS, and I learned we're doig a Sparta/Athens debate. The. i learned I was leading a group. Alrighty then. So we chose Sparta, the other team is Athens.

I have never done a debate before, let alone lead one. So do you guys have any tips or suggestions for the debate?

Get postive facts and be ready to respond to the other side's resposives. Sparta was a war state where Athens was art. Sparta had a better miltary and more women's rights.

Sparta was pretty intense. Exactly what about them are you debating? There is a lot for each. Debates aren't hard, so don't worry too much.

I've only done 1 debate. I was supposed to give good reasons as to why we shouldn't have summer vacation and have school year-round. Just give very good defense, and facts about it, stay away from negative things.

We're debating which is the superior city-state. Our grade is currently divided lol (nothing serious. just having fun )

Sparta didn't accept weaklings. Any baby who wasn't healthy at birth or had any disorder was thrown off a cliff.

Athens was more build on education. They believed that an education was the most valuable thing.

This is kind of a negative on Sparta, but that's what I know.
