We just booked a Disney Cruise out of Barcelona and was wondering if anyone had any experience with using an ECV in Spain. Are the streets navigable? Are the card big enough to load the scooter plus some bags?

We did a cruise oit of Barcelona a few years ago. Some areas were definitely easy to navigate but others (like the gothic quarter) definitely was not. The standard taxis we used definitely were in the smaller side. A lot of the areas we visited did not se very handicap-friendly (no elevators, ramps, etc.

My experience is with a bus land tour
1. Make sure your ECV is OK with DCL. You may have size issues. You may need specific cabins. You'll need to put your ECV in your cabin. There might be a special storage place which may, or may not, be near your cabin.
2. Many of the gates at BCN require walking down the stairs to the tarmac. People who list wheelchair on their reservation exit via.a different door directly on a platform. After everyone is accounted for the platform is moved away and lowered. You're transported by bus to the terminal building.

3. The streets are doable. Some cobblestone streets are a little rough.

4. I agree with the PP. Some restaurants don't have ramps or elevators. One of our hotels had a small elevator. The entrance and exit doors were on adjacent walls. You had to turn the scooter 90°. We had a foldable scooter. We folded it.like
A stroller.

5. It's workable if you can walk short distances and at least half a flight of stairs.

6. Consider ship sponsored shore excursions.

Our tour included Sagrada Família. There was a ramp at the entrance. There was no ramp at the exit. One step. Got off the scooter. Multiple people offered to assist lifting the scooter down the one step. Not a.big.deal. it would have been.a PITA if we had insisted on a ramp.

They don't have an ADA. Assume HA bathrooms won't be available.

Workable if you can walk short distances and some steps. Probably an issue if you're not ambulatory to an extent

My scooter has cruised on DCL before 😃 . I booked a HC cabin since I also have trouble with a tub in addition to needing the space for the scooter.

Thank you.

I can walk short distances and can do stairs if I have plenty of time.. I wasn't panning on any excursions but will have two days in Barcelona prior to sailing and hope to explore.

The bathroom thing always scares me. If I don't have a higher toilet and grab bars.... I will brave it though. It's got to be better that the squatty Potties in China 🤣
