Spain is gone, will it be back

We were at Epcot, yesterday, and found Spain's temporary pavilion has been eliminated. Now the question is, will it be back?
We've heard several rumors that the new pavilion was a done deal, but I talked to Spain CM's who said otherwise.

We took the Showcase tour the 14th. And there is nothing but fresh sod where Spain stood.
I asked our guide about Spain. He was quick to mention that it was all rumor and speculation and that Spain was nothing more than a trailer with a facade. It's gone and forgotten, except to guests, according to him.
He didn't think much of the rumor, but also admitted it is a possibility. But he didn't want to confirm anything. And obviously didn't think much about it.
We were at a pin cart in DTD last week. The CM there was very nice. He pointed out that two new pins have come out. They are the flag heads of the Epcot countries, that now include Ireland and Portugal in this series.
Why? He claims they are coming to Epcot. I told him about our tour and what we were told about Spain.
This CM just lowered his head and shook it and said it is true about Spain coming. He acted disappointed the tour CM wouldn't mention it and didn't understand why the big secrecy.
I asked another WS CM at random about the two new pins. But it was out of his forte and he said he didn't know anything about any of the rumors.
I suppose they jumped the gun on announcing and building Africa. (Hence the outpost.) Guessing they don't want any more bad press on anything.

Just remember that you can't always trust CMs. I don't know if anyone's ever gotten the "We're beginning to build our 5th gate," on yet, but I have.

It's true, you can't always trust CMs. It's not that they're trying to mislead anyone, it's that rumors and disinformation are as rampant among the CMs as they are on message boards. What I did learn as a CP (my status is recent ex-CP, in case anyone is wondering) was that the small Spain pavillion built near the outpoast was only intended for the Food and Wine Festival, and for the inside purpose of measuring the public's interest in a Spain pavillion. That part was concrete. The part about a real Spain pavillion is a rumor, but it is a pretty strong one and I wouldn't bet against a real announcement in the near future.

It would be nice to see Disney put some "zip" back in the World Showcase. I love it there, but it needs some attention. I thought the idea of Spain was a wonderful idea and would love to see it there permanently.

color me confused...i was there in june of 2002 and did not notice Spain. Where was it? I luv the WS. How could i have missed it?? Portugal and Ireland....i like the idea. crossing my fingers it will be done by the time i am there in June 2003

"Spain" was in the vicinity of the African Outpost. It was only there for the Food & Wine Festival (mid_October) and I guess for a few weeks thereafter.

I do have to say...they COULD put in some small countries in that area using authentic looking trailers, small cafes and shops. I think that would be fun. IMHO one of the biggest mistakes they made was to close the millenium village. It would have been an easy way to get countries to put up something that would only last a year or two.

Now there is an idea!! Have several areas where different countries can be placed for short periods of time. It would keep things fresh and give a reason to keep coming back. I bet if costs were reasonable, countries pay for it.

Another thought. Why not a parade representing different countries.

Let's just hope that Eisner does not place Ireland next to England!
