What type of ride is this? Thanks :goodvibes

It is a car ride, you get in and go through the history of communication. It is not a thrill ride. Very relaxing. It is one of my favorites. DD12 always takes a nap when we ride throug! LOL!

Thank you! Sounds like I can handle this one :goodvibes

Definately not a ride to wait a very long time in line for. You can almost always catch it later in the day when there is only a 10-15 minute wait if that.

It's also a great escape from the heat. It's a 15 minute ride in the dark with air conditioning. I love it.

As other posters have said, it's very relaxing! It's also quite informative and a nice place to cool down on a hot day.

Our DD3 can't wait to go back to the "big golf ball" - she loves it! :lovestruc

Spaceship Earth is one of those things that they should probably update, but I wouldn't mind if they never did - there's a lot of nostalgia behind this one. Plus as everyone said - lots of AC and for more than 2 1/2 mins (like the indoor rides in Fantasyland, MK)

it's a ride about the history of golf with all the great players, courses ect snore snore snore....can't you tell by the facade??? ( ;))

really it's slow and a little outdated but imo pure wdw...it has smells of fire ,hidden mickeys i can never find,ect...really nice and while it isn't tot it's a not miss for us. i'm not sure but i think it goes down facing forward now? maybe my brain is off but that is the only part of the ride i disliked ...the creaky "this ride is going to break and you are going backward into oblivion " fear and i thought last time" hooray!" when it did not go that way

I love Spaceship Earth, but I heard from a CM at our resort that the sponsorship is expiring and they're going to turn it into a Roller coaster in the next couple of years :confused3

Its a nice relaxing ride that takes you through the history of communication. As mentioned before its not a thrill ride and I hope it never becomes one either. I like it as is. I was on it two years ago and as you end the ride it brings you down backwards, atleast that was the way it was when i was there. I have it on my never miss list for when I go down to WDW.

The best ride at all of WDW! Well, in my opinion anyway (just see my username). Anyways, there's been rumors for years that SE would be gutted and replaced with some sort of roller coaster ride...what I've heard, though, is that the track the current ride goes along is an integral part of the "ball's" structure, so it doesn't seem very likely that the whole thing can just be gutted out and replaced with another type of ride. At least I hope not!

My favorite part of SSE is the "dome" area at the top, with the awesome sound system blasting that music, the stars and the rising moon. Reminds me alot of the two dome areas they used to have in Horizons.
I can get enough thrills out of awesome music and huge projection screens, I really don't need to have my body slammed all over the place.

Thank you everyone :goodvibes I will definetly check this out on our upcoming trip. I am not much of a thrill ride person & for some reason that is what I thought this was.

Great cool relaxing attraction when it's not broken. Not stood in line for this one in years always do it mid afternoon or early evening and NO LINE.

Kids love it. I get a little creeped thinking how I am going to get the kids out if it breaks down. (Especially when it give the announcement "stay seated.....etc.") But looking back - it is probably one of the finest rides in WDW. PS I am a recent convert to CoP. What a sweet and wonderful "disney" experience - Spaceship is like that..sweet and wonderful.

I LOVE Spaceship Earth, we always go on it the first thing when we get to the park and at least once more before we leave! Can't be missed in my opinion :earboy2:

I consider it one of the "You Haven't been to WDW if you haven't done _____" attractions.

It used to be our Traditional Last Ride of the trip when my son was smaller. It was one of his favorites. Now he's more apt to want to get one more Mission:Space in than SE.....

It's a great ride... It was the first ride we ever went on at WDW and on our upcoming second trip my kids want it to be the first ride we go on again. :goodvibes

Really, there's nothing to worry about unless you have a lot of children who don't walk. There are stairs lining the entire ride (you can't or don't see them because it's a dark ride, but they're between the cars/track and the wall, out in the open). Also, 99.999999% of the time when they make that announcement, the track has stopped so one or more Guests with mobility issues can enter or exit the attraction safely, NOT because there's any problem with the ride! As a continuous loader, it generally does not stop - Guests step onto a moving walkway then into the ride vehicle; at the end, you exit the vehicle onto another moving walkway and step off it onto solid ground.

Its a slow moving educational ride about communications throughout the ages. It will be low lighting in some sections of ride.
