Spaceship Earth is Different, No?

Spaceship Earth is to Epcot what a Small World is to the Magic Kingdom,
a little bit borning but a Disney must do tradition. I tend to agree they
could never take the big ball down, it is Epcots symbol to the world. ::MickeyMo

I agree about Spaceship Earth being an icon - it is a "must do" for our family - DD4 loves it! The thing that annoys me when the ride stops is the constant "please remain seated..." spiel - stating that once would be enough for me! I was told once that rides like this often stop to allow disabled guests time to get into/out of their ride vehicle so this may explain why rides often stop in the middle but aren't broken down. ;)

I don't think Epcot is boring - it's just different and that's a good thing! :goodvibes

I hope the rumors about Universe of Energy closing aren't true - we like this one too. BTW - a friend of ours had a lovely snooze on that one a few years ago - just EPCOT living up to it's name (Every Person Comes Out Tired!) :rotfl:

I love Spaceship Earth! For me it is the epitome of Epcot :) (the fact that I can pretend Jeremy Irons is whispering directly into my ear has nothing to do with it, of course ;) )

He does have a rather sexy tone about him Karen........:goodvibes

"Since the dawn of recorded time, communication has revolutionised our lives and changed our world. We now have the ability and the responsibility to build new bridges of acceptance and cooperation between us. To create a better world for ourselves, and our children, as we continue our amazing journey aboard Spaceship Earth"

LOVE Spaceship Earth!!! It was definitely Jeremy when I was last on it in April too!!

Jeremy Irons is still the narrator on Spaceship Earth - I asked a CM when I was there recently!

We love Spaceship Earth and during two weeks in WDW might go on it several times. As we exit Epcot, if there is no queue we will go on it for the hell of it - it's VERY relaxing.

Someone mentioned that Spaceship Earth needs to be updated but I'm sure that it has only been done a few years back,I recall it being "Closed For Your Future Entertainment" on one of our last trips?
As for 20,000 Leagues.....Our first ever trip,we'd done a few of the other attractions by the time we reached it,thinking that Disney had done everything so well so far,we were expecting real fish, real sharks, maybe some animatronics...... Speechless!!!

Agree about Spaceship Earth although we didn't ride it on our trips this year -
but Small World? sorry, we stay well clear - was tempted to jump into the water last time we rode it.

I really do hope that WDW does NOT go down the road of pandering to a few who want white knuckle rides only.
The whole reason for the parks is entertainment of varying types, I would stop going if it was all rock N roll coaster, Mission Space, etc... that's just not my vision of enjoyment.

we've had small world aversion for years....but this year we decided to go on it, since it was closed for such a long time and had supposedly had a major overhaul...
it's looking quite nice....they've added some dolls (it was entertaining to try to figure out what was new) and they changed the front area (where you wait in line and board the boats)...
it really isn't bad....and little kids just adore it....i remember my kids as babies and toddlers could just ride round and round and round on that one...

i agree....which is why it upsets me so much that they've gotten rid of some of the truly 'disney' like things - for example Hunchback of Notre Dame....such amazing staging....and on a completely different scale, the Diamond Horseshoe Revue....a corny show that lots of people enjoyed (including my family), but due to cutbacks in manpower, they cut the show.....maybe now that the evil emperor is gone (michael eisner) they'll stop all that costcutting that was destroying much of the heart of the parks...
