As far as rollar coasters go, this one is pretty tame. My DD, who is now 20, hates the big drops and avoids all coasters but actually likes SM. It is dark, which makes it more fun, but since it is a gravity coaster (it moves with the help of gravity) it does not really go that fast and there are lots of twists and turns, but not sharp ones. I think that if you are pressured into going onto it, you will be just fine. If you want to get a close look without getting on it, go on the TTA, as you will get to go inside the SM building and get a look at it as you pass through. Hey, if you decide not to get on that is okay. Not all rides are for everyone, and it is okay to say "no", that is what my daughter does!

Have a great time!

For the most part this is a mild ride. The drop is really not that bad, it is kind of like a nice ride throught space. it is not completely dark either. They have some sort of fake stars that gives it some light. you would do fine.:thumbsup2

Oh Okay thank you!I went through the TTA,and when I saw it from the outside it didnt look all that scary,The only thing I was worried about was if there were like steep drops.lol..In the beginning of the ride do you go on a steep upwards thingy to like get the ride going?Becuase when I went on TTA I thought I saw something like that..Anyway,Thanks so much guys!:)

I am definitely not a roller coaster person but I can handle all WDW coasters. My husband has epilepsy so some of the flippy, dippy rides bother him but he is able to ride Space Mountain. It goes fairly fast but there are no loops or spins...just dips and quick turns. Also, even if you are scared, the ride is so short, you're only scared for about 3 minutes. My vote? Ride Space Mountain. If nothing else, to show them you're not a weeny!

lol thanks..Yea I think I am gonna ride it.I mean,in October I rode Splash Mountain for the first time.I never thought I would ever ride it becuaseof the big drop, but it was a spurof the moment thing and it was great. So I guess I should do the same with Space:)

Im j.w but are the dips steep or just like normal fast dips? lol.Thankss<3

The difference between Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain is Space Mountain is entirely enclosed in a building and it's in the dark. This means that you can't see all the dips and turns. Big Thunder Mountain is all on the outside. You can see everything.

Big Thunder Mountain has no super deep drops and only one semi-steep climb. The ride on Big Thunder Mountain seems rougher than Space Mountain but that's part of the special effects.

The ride is also pretty short so, again, if you're scared, you're not scared for very long.

My 9 year old has ridden Big Thunder Mountain every year since he was tall enough too. He absolutely loves it. I think you would like it too!

Space Mountain is a pretty tame coaster, but it is still enough to get someone sick. It is very dark, but I could still see the tracks some. There are no huge drops, but it is still some small ones. There are some pretty sharp turns the feel a little rough.Overall it is a moderate coaster. It was very fun to me!! :cool1:

Hope this helps! :)

If you rode Splash Mountain, then Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain should be a breeze for you.

Oh Okay cool..Yea I <3 Big Thunder Railroad Mountain and Splash Mountain.Itgave a thrill.Well thanks everyone for your help..Looks like in May I will be riding space mountain<3

Let me start by saying that I hate roller coasters ! That said, I love both SM and TM ! No big drops on either one, and except for the fact that SM is in the dark, I think they are very similar. Last trip my dd9 yo was finally tall enuf to go on. I sat behind her and tried to keep my hands near her shoulders cause we were worried she might fall out cause she is so petit ! She got off and said that she would like to go again, but away from dad !! For the record, she also loved Mission Space, but did not like Tower of Terror. Have fun !! :thumbsup2 party:
