I'm not a person who goes on thrill rides that much - to much of a history with motion sickness/fear of heights and they just plain scare me but one of my friends at work said I'd love Space Mountain and Tower of Terror and that they aren't that bad. He also added that if I don't ride one of them, he won't want to hear about my trip (he's kidding) so I'd better decide which one I'm going to do.

Out of those two - which one is the easiest to handle; if there is one?

I would have to say Space Mountain would be easier to handle. But then again I love coasters and I don't think Space Mountain is that bad compared to the ones I've been on elsewhere. It's in the dark so you won't know how high you are up compared to ToT cause the doors open up and you can see out. But thats just my opinion.

:teeth: I second that emotion...my DH isn't all that keen on rollercoasters but LOVES  Space Mountain. ToT gave him a stomach churning experience that left me standing on the curb outside the men's room for 30 minutes after the ride while he decided what to do with the lunch we ate just prior to the ride :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:
Seriously though...I really think SM is your best bet. Have fun!

Space Mount.

I hate/love ToT. Love to ride it ONCE a trip, but no more until a year or longer.

I have to ask . sorry

"What is that?"

If the "that" you are refering to is the picture. It is Skippy from Alien Encounter.

Definitely Space Mountain. I'm a roller coaster coward, but I love SM. It's in the dark, and it jostles you around a lot, but there are no big drops.

I'm glad I went on ToT once, but I'm in no hurry to do it again. My legs were like jello for a good 15 minutes afterward.

I'm in agreement with everyone else that space mountain is the way to go, ToT takes a stronger man :rotfl2:

Definitely SM. My dh isn't a fan of thrill rides and he said he wouldn't do either SM or TofT again. He liked Mission Space, though, and most of the other rides. The 3 he won't do again are SM, TofT and Rock n roll coaster.

i could never tell anybody not to do tot. the effects are awesome. not to be missed.

With the fear of heights thing the dor opening on TOT might scare you- but I am afraid of heights and I love this one. It is all that free fall feelling. If that does not bother you you should try this one too(although I agree with everyone else that Space Mountain is the easier ride) I will share our TOT story.. We were on the tram from the parking lot and there was a huge muscle guy in front of us afraid to go on TOT. His wife was trying to talk him into it. Then my 5 year old dd says "I went on it yesterday it is FUN! I am going on again" I think his group would fall off the tram. They did not let up on the fact that a little girl went on and he would not :rotfl: When we all entered the park, he went on..with us (my dd and my family) and he loved it!

I will tell you our story and you can take from it what you want!!! Myself, dh, and dd, now 11. We rode Space Mt. for the first time, as a family, in August of '03. Everyone loves it to pieces. We then ride ToT. Not a problem, in fact, we were surprised that we enjoyed it so much. It took quite a bit of doing to get dd, then 9, on it. But she enjoyed it. So, fast forward to Dec. '03. Dd and I go on a ladies only trip. We again ride Space Mt. and love it. Understand that neither one of us is a huge rollercoaster fan. We do them only in WDW. So, after riding SpMt over and over, we go to MGM and do ToT again. WELL!!! We came off that puppy just shaking and nauseous. Seems we got the easy drop sequence in August and the bad one on this trip. Oh man...I didn't mind the height of the thing (and I don't care for heights) but those drops and pull back ups!!!! Yikes. I thought I was going to die. And to make matters worse, so to speak, I come from a long line of elevator mechanics so I realize how safe this ride is and I still couldn't take it that time!!! We now avoid ToT like the plague. But, we do love RnRC..ride that one over and over. It has to be that free fall feeling. If you get the easy sequence you're all set. But, if you get the other ones, well....don't say I didn't warn ya!!!

But I have to say that the rest of ToT is incredible. I love walking in and seeing all the 'stuff' on the way to the elevator. Maybe I'll just do the chicken exit in June!!

That story is just too cute!! I enjoyed it immensely and can just picture that man's face!

Thanks for the smile! :flower:

I know my stomach drops, flips, and turns WAY more on TOT than SM.
But, my BIL is VERY prone motion sickness, he even got sick last year on the beach because we were riding waves in the ocean. :confused3
He can't stand things like the tea cups, but has no problem with either TOT or SM.

This may sound weird - Space Mountain is an easier ride to take, but ToT might be easier to handle because it's so fast. The drops last no more than 15-20 seconds.

Space Mountain is about 2 minutes.

ToT drops only last 15-20 secs? Is that all ...each drop seemed to last a lifetime, the proof being the claw marks I left on the seat and my gf

A roller coaster in the dark is the best! The little twinkely lights, the unexpected turns...it is too great!! Love it!! :earsboy: :cool1:

Wow, tough one to say whether to ride one and not the other. I say, try 'em both! You may shock yourself and love each of them. As most everyone has said, Space Mountain is a much tamer ride. It is made up of mostly twists and turns and the only real 'scary' thing about it is that it is in the dark. It has a couple drops, none of which are very large at all. Sit in the front of the car and you should be fine. Try Space Mountain; although, as I said, don't rule out ToT. If the height of a ride is what scares you, close your eyes when they open the doors or just look at the person next to you. I have known plenty of people that hate drops and come off of ToT with a huge grin wanting to do it again. I have also known those that go on it and don't enjoy it. You have to decide for yourself. Go on once and see what happens. And at least you can always say that you tried it!! Be sure to let us know how it goes and have a magical trip!

I have a bad memory for some reason but I do remember these two rides the last time I went. I thought SM was boring. I got on ToT 5 times in a row. I like thrills... If you like thrills you probably wont' like SM... if you don't then you may find SM thrilling... If you have a fear of heights you may not like ToT although it is in the dark... but they take you up and you can feel you are getting higher and higher... I guess it depends if you have a fear knowing you are up high or just if you look down and know you are high up.

At least SM doesn't drop you 13 stories.

Sounds like you may handle space mountain better - it's not really that fast at all, no upside down, etc.. just hills...

The two are completely different rides. ToT gives you the "freefall" sensation of the bottom coming out from under you, while Space Mountain is more side to side and illusion of speed (I think it only gets to 35 mph at its fastest).

Personally, I agree with those that say Space Mountain is an easier ride, however, I must tell you that my 7 year old son was riding Tower of Terror before he ever was allowed on Space Mountain (due to height restrictions).

I rode t o t in Aug. at DL. It was tame. I rode it back to back several times. There wasn't enough drop, but the special effects are great. I hope I get The "thrill" sequence in June at WDW. If anyone wants a major drop, go to Cedar Point in Ohio! Much bigger than Great America or Magic Mountain.

Do T o T for the special effects. Do it at the end of the day. EAt lightly an hour before riding. You'll be fine and have a terrific story to tell your friend. I hope you get the tame sequence.
