Taken from Disney and More - New Vekoma Harness's to be installed!

"This new hydraulic harness is totally different than the previous one and the head will be free, so no more knocks of the head. Last week, Vekoma came at DLP to test it and installed this new harness at the last row of one Space Mountain train. Then, they asked DLP cast members if they would like to test it. Several CM did try it and all were literally in heaven when the train came back at the boarding station. Basically, thanks to the new harness "it's night and day" from the previous one and the ride just become exhilarating again. No pictures were allowed during this test but according to a CM who did it the harness look exactly like the one on the picture below."

But sadly they wont be coming until the end of 2012.

A Space Mountain ride without a battered head is definitely something to look forward too :thumbsup2

Definitely something to look forward too :goodvibes

We always do it ONCE on each visit but i always come off thinking how bad it must be for your brain being shaken around like that :rotfl2:

Now all we need is it to return to how it was as SM-De la Terre à la Lune and OH's happiness will be complete :lmao:

Really looking forward to this upgrade!

This is good news. A lot of people suffer on this ride. Personally - I dont have issues with the current one and dont seem to get a battered head, but the majority of people do.

Fantastic news. Hopefully they'll apply it to Aerosmith too as it's only a matter of time before it suffers the same problems.

DW will be pleased and will be able to ride it again one these are installed.

Great news - about time! I can only do this ride now if I sit in the front row, wearing one or two thick woolly hats.

Feel a bit of a banana wearing woolly hat on hot day but it's the only way I can ride now without feeling like my teeth have been shaken out of my head.
Or keep head forward, off the headrest, which is very risky for one's neck.

Rock n Roller is not as bad, but going the same way, so I only do this occasionally as well.

My son used to go on SM over and over in succession, but he can't do that now, even though he can go on most coasters without problems.

Will be brilliant to be able to enjoy this ride again - not feel like being tortured.

I've only ridden Space Mountain once and not long after I came home from dlp started suffering with dizzy spells which was later diagnosed as BPPV a type of vertigo often caused by head trauma. My ENT consultant and I both concluded it may have been caused by the ride as I had no other history at all.
So I for one think it's excellent news :thumbsup2

Great news. I always feel a little unsafe on SM and my head also take a knocking every time. Looking forward to this now :)

Carrie - we preferred De La Terre A La Lune as well, before they changed the interior.
You also used to be able to see the ride through large glass windows along the interior queue line. You could see the red lights on the cars going round the coaster track. At this point, some people used to leave the queue and exit!
It was interesting once, when the ride broke down when we were in the inside queue, and they turned the lights on. Amazing seeing the track clearly.

Good news - I love the ride but worry it'll muck up my neck for the rest of the trip!
