I just read a fitness article about good/fun marathons to run and they mentioned the Space Coaster Marathon/Half. I've seen a lot of people here talk about that race also.

Just curious about the race ~ what makes this race so popular? How's the course and weather?

I do not know a thing about that race.....but, the medal is awesome! I saw it displayed at the booth for the R and R Half in Virginia Beach Labor Day weekend. So if you want nice bling, it would be a great addition to any race medal collection!

Where is that race located?

I haven't run it, but I thought about doing this and going as Jeannie if I could find someone to go as Major Nelson...

I ran the half last year and will be running it again this year.. It was my first non-disney race and while it was an adjustment in a few ways like one huge start, not having clocks at each mile and a rather boring course (runs 6.5 miles down 6.5 miles back along pretty much 1 road)

It was things like the water stations, post race party/food (amazing!) and the bling (definitely my prettiest medal of last year even over my Disney ones) made it easy to sign up again (add the fact its soo much cheaper than a disney race!)

The Space Coast Marathon is the oldest marathon in Fl.

DW and I competed in the 2010 and 2011 Half Marathons and this November DW and DD will be again in the Half with me in the Full.

Last year was my 2:11:12 half marathon walking PR and I will be trying for a 4:15 full walking PR.

Much of the Half course has very cambered roads but the view of the river is wonderful and many of the old houses are awesome. As mentioned by DL_Emily, fantastic breakfast plus pizza, drinks, bananas....GREAT MEDAL :thumbsup2

I remember seeing their medal at the princess half. As a space geek, this race is very appealing. We saw one of the last space shuttle launches on my bday. I would love.a.space.shuttle medal. Maybe someday.

Thanks guy, that help a lot! The perks seem really nice and a fun type of run. I'll have to check that one out in the future.
