Trying to see how many days you need to do the Space Centre? is this a one or two day activity? would like to do one more thing during our trip. Initially we considered Disneyworld but I am now learning that it is a lot further than we thought from the Space Centre. Is doing maybe Universal and the Space Centre a more affordable way to do it?

We are first timers to that part of the country. Will not be driving.

A full day at Kennedy is likely enough, universal is not much closer than disney though so I would not let that be the deciding factor, I would recommend you consider staying near ksc the night before.

First thing to do is Find out How you are getting to K.S. Centre & the Cost ?

It is at least a 50 mile one way trip

K.S. C. can be seen in a day But transport there & back could be tricky.

Universal is only a few minutes from Disney World and Sea World. There is nothing to do by the Space Center other than the beach.

Space Center is only a one day, and for some not even an all day thing. Is the Space Center the main focus of your trip?

Yes the space centre is the biggest focus of the trip. Flying down to do only that seems a little rough. Trying to figure out what else might be possible.

The Quality Inn Kennedy is where I was looking at booking our stay.

Would love suggestions or ideas of other attractions. Perhaps spending one night at the quality inn to go do the space centre, then moving to another hotel closer to Universal for a 3-4 days?

One or two nights near the Space Center followed by a move to the Universal area sounds like a good idea to me. DH and I could easily spend an entire day at KSC, taking a tour and exploring the museum.

For the Universal part of the trip, look at and do the math for staying at one of their deluxe hotels, the Hard Rock, Portofino Bay, or Royal Pacific. Every member of your party would get the Unlimited Express Pass for every day of the stay including checkin and checkout days, which can be quite a savings in time and $$ depending on how many of you there are.

And did you know that DISboards has a Universal forum here? Lots of helpful information!

GREAT INFO THANK YOU! and thank you for the link. I looked but missed that forum section. Thank you so much!

First need to know dates : Any holidays in these plans?
Also flying into Orlando?
Renting a car?
How many people in travel party? Adults & children?

I recommend checking this site:
VisitSpaceCoast.com
Also includes important reminders about Hurricane Season thru 11/30 in Southern Florida plus
Brightline Road Construction, delays,closures ….
Traffic is BAD

I have Only been once but I seem to recall driving along the main stretch of road and seeing the Disney Cruise Ships !

Also discovered a cool place to stop and enjoy even if you aren’t staying there :
Hilton Cocoa Beach Oceanfront Resort will charge a fee to park but they also have a fun Tiki Bar and access to the sandy beaches!
If there is a launch, I would pay extra to view from the Space Center with special seating and updated info as you wait for the Countdown !
I think you will have to book some of the space center events in advance .
This is making me want to go back but traffic and weather … we have had some serious thunderstorms and lightning lately! And construction everywhere.

Dont forget about the toll road fees !
Stay safe and have fun !

It seems like you have 2 different threads going.
I wonder if they can be combined

I also noticed you have started 2 threads asking basically the same things. Most who participate here look at various threads so you will likely get the same people replying to both.

Your older posts indicate you live in Canada, so I would first start by looking at an online map of Florida so you can see where the places you plan to visit are located. Space Center is some 60 miles from Disney/Universal and I assume you will be flying into Florida if you indicated you won't have a car. I am not exactly sure from what you posted how you decided to vacation there and/or what exactly made you decide you wanted to see the Space Center.

Check the Space Center website for available tours/timing/costs/transportation options. When we last went a number of years ago, there were different tour options depending on exactly what you would be seeing/doing. If you (or your family) has an interest in science/space exploration, you will find more to do compared to those who have little interest in such things.

Disney is a HUGE place and no one hotel is closest to every one of the 4 parks. You budget and which park(s) you want to visit are things to consider when choosing where to stay. Some people stay in Orlando area and then make a day trip to the Space Center. Not having a car limits your options, but there are other transportation choices mentioned above.

If you are making Kennedy Space Center the focus of your trip, you can certainly do one day there and then move over to Orlando for more theme parks and activities. However, while there isn't any other parks nearby, you can just stick to the coast for the trip. Maybe do a day at the Space Center and have a relaxing, laid back beach vacation for the rest of the time? There are some really nice beaches in the area. You can also find some local attractions, like doing a boat tour of the area and seeing some nature, or fining a museum to explore. About an hour and a half south is Disney's Vero Beach resort, although if you are willing to make that drive you probably could also just drive 45-60 minutes west to Orlando.

Also, if you want to make KSC into more of a big trip, check out some of their special tours. I believe they still do Lunch with an Astronaut where you get to eat and chat with an astronaut. That could probably stretch out your visit into two days. And keep an eye out for info about launches. The time and days on these change frequently (I've even see launches get scrubbed like 10 seconds before takeoff) but you could attempt to plan around a launch. And even if you are not in the visitor complex, you'll get a great view from pretty much any beach in the area.

We are returning to Orlando after Christmas and right now, we are planning 6 nights at WDW (5 days in the parks) and 3 nights (3 park days) at Universal. Our no-park day during our stay at WDW will be January 1st and we are planning to go the the Space Centre. Last time we went was 13 years ago and we really liked our time there but feel that 1 day is enough. If they offer VIP tours that day, I will book one for DH and my youngest (includes transportation from Orlando resorts) but if they don't have have VIP tours that day since it's New Year, the whole family will drive there from our hotel. We are driving south from Canada so we have a car.
