Spa Closure

I called the Sartoga Springs Resort & Spa to schedule a few spa treatments for my Sept. trip. I had to leave a message, and someone called me back today, and said that as of 7/26 they were going to be closed...

Sad isn't it

She didn't know if it was temporary or not. I felt really sorry for her.

I think this spa closing is temporary. The construction for the DVC units there is really taking off and it may just be too dangerous to have people in the area right now. I seem to recall from the DVC website that the spa was one of the features they are selling so I bet the re-open it. (No idea when!)

By the way, the Wyndam has a spa that I have heard nice things about.

The Spa at Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa (formerly the Disney Institute), will close temporarily on July 25 while a new DVC sales center in being constructed. The spa is slated to reopen in Spring 2004, when the rest of the newly redesigned resort opens. http://wdwig.com/faq_ss.htm

My wife went there last month during our trip and really enjoyed the services she had done. Should be worth visiting when it reopens in the Spring.

Is that the Spa here allowed Disney club members a 15% off discount. The other "spas" on property do not do that.

We were looking forward to going to the SS Spa for my wedding - now we are looking at Gaylord Palms Spa.

So sorry to hear this. I was there a week and a half ago for a manicure and pedicure and no one mentionned it. I wonder if they knew? Such nice people there. Actually dropped by on July 3 to pick up some products, too. I hope they have other positions at WDW until the spa reopens. Does anyone know?

I called the Saratoga Spa this am and asked about the closing. We had planned on going to this spa several times during our extended trip next spring, definately preferring this spa over GF. They are closing later this month and will not reopen until the resort opens next spring. The CM I spoke with said that the target opening was May 2004 but he said that he would be very surprised if they opened on time. He also said some CM's would be transferred but that some would lose their jobs. This is a disappointing development for our trip but I am sure that in the big picture the whole spa area will be improved and be a huge asset to the new resort.

What do you all think would be the possibility of them adding one of the other resorts for spa treatments since SS is closed to the Silver Plan?

I see that other deluxe resorts have spas. One can only hope that they will add another resort as a choice.

Yes it is--I was going to take advantage of the discount for our Sept. trip. Oh well...guess I'll check out the GF spa instead.
