Do any of the giftshops sell soy milk? Vanilla or chocolate silk or so good?
We are staying at POFQ , will not be renting a car, and milk does not agree with ds1.

I saw it at the Polynesian in March, can't speak for Port Orleans. but I would wager that they do carry it. Lots of folks can't tolerate milk. Good luck and have fun.

I am pretty certain I saw it onsite in the gift shop and in counter service locations on our last trip. I am certain that you can email disney to make certain it is available. Also as a safety net, you could pack some of the shelf stable soy milk in your checked baggage.

Just my thoughts

Thanks guys, and great idea about the shelf stable one. I will put a few in my luggage just in case. I hope the same brand, same flavor tastes similar in shelf stable vs refrigerated.... I guess we could try it at home first. I did compare them and their composition is different..but for emergencies, it will def work if ds will drink it!!

Definately contact POFQ. If they don't normally carry it, I bet they will make sure they have it available for you.

My DDs are allergic to milk and after noting it on our ADRs, the Chef at POP contacted me prior to our stay last year.

My son doesn't do well with milk so he drinks soymilk.

I have bought it in the shops at the BW and BC and am pretty sure when I was POFQ once for lunch they had it. I do know that at all of our sitdowns we could buy and some of the counter service areas had it as well.

Our problem was that in the restaurants it is regular soymilk and my son drinks vanilla. If he doesn't like the regular and they don't have vanilla - just ask them to add chocolate to it. I know he got vanilla silk at the Land in Epcot and I am pretty sure at the POP food courts as well. We have also gotten it at Beach Club.

He does just as well with the shelf stable ones as the cold ones. I feel when we are there that we can find it in enough places that he can have at least one glass a day without having to hunt it out or bringing it with me.

Also - if you let the restaurants know that you have a dairy allergy - they will really work with you to help you find what you need. I even had someone go to another restaurant to get us soymilk when they were out once. I used to note it on the reservations and the chef would come out and let me know everything that he would reccomend and was willing to make special things for us. DS is now 6 and as long as he doesn't drink full glasses of milk - he is fine but when he was little like yours it was nice to talk with the chef's. Even at the buffets they would help us out.

Is your son allergic to milk or does it just bother his tummy? The reason I ask is b/c as my son has gotten older - I have found when I can't find soymilk that he does better tolerating chocolate milk than white milk. Not sure why that is.

Just found this thread:

You can purchase it at the Gift Shop/General Store at the resorts

We needed it last year too for our son and all the quick service places had the blue and red bottles. It was also at the food courts at the resorts. I cant remember about TS we may have done juice for dinner but I'm sure they have it. It really was everywhere. Also if you use silk they do have shelf stable ones out there. We found it at whole foods.

Now that he's 2 we have been able to switch over to regular milk but we have to add a flavor since he was so used to the taste of soy.

I've seen it in all the food courts I have been in. I'm sure they must have it at most places as this is not an uncommon diet request. FYI many ice cream shoppes will have tofutti ice cream as well - worth it to ask!

I was @ POFQ in Feb and I know the food court has it... their gift shop had a pretty good sized fridge section, and I am about 80% certain I saw it there as well.

You really shouldn't have any trouble making that substitution.

That is great-thanks a bunch for the info.
Its a relief to know its easy to locate :)
DVCBelle, My ds does not have a true allery to cow's milk, he can have small amounts like in a small pot of yogurt, a bit of ice cream etc. Howevr he gets extremely constipated if he drinks more than half a glass.. I mean really bad, poor thing, you feel like a midwife at the birth :(
We were lucky , he seems to enjoy soy milk quite a bit. I have even taken to eating it with my cereal.

That is exactly how my son was - good news is that he seems to get better as he gets older!

When he was little he had to have nutramigen instead of formula. We tried to put him on regular milk but it just wasn't happening. Then he got so used to the taste of soymilk that trying to switch him back now would never work! He does like chocolate milk so sometimes that will work. I used to write it on all his school paperwork but then I decided it wasn't worth having teachers withhold a snack from him if all the other kids had it. I did take in the shelf stable packs for him at the beginning of preschool so if they ever had a milk snack (sometimes they had cereal) he would have that instead of the regular milk. As he has gotten older (he turns 6 this week) he has learned that if he eats a lot of dairy he will probably end up with a tummy ache. It is nice that he makes the decsion now on what he is willing to eat and not eat. He never ever ever turns down a Mickey bar ;)

So don't worry! It really isn't a big factor in our life anymore. Soymilk is so mainstream now that it is really easy to find - even if it is almost double the price of milk! I even noticed that they serve it in the school cafeteria! Our biggest struggle now is when his sister gets mad b/c I make her drink milk in a restaurant and he gets juice - I keep waiting for her to tell me she is lactose intolerant too!! ;)

Another Soy milk mom here

We were at POFQ in Sept last year.

I didn't see it in the food court milk area,
just ask.

It was nice to have something familiar for DD.

She is starting to add chocolate milk into her diet
(thanks to her  cousin)

I bought it at the Poly for my ds last year. It was Silk. I can't remember if it came in flavors but I do know I brought chocolate quik to mix in it so maybe it was only plain (not the very vanilla).
