Wow...just got off the first panama crossings on the disney magic...met some of you all...but really not sure I am totally grounded yet in this DIS thing yet...hoping to get a well rounded self-described synopsis from some of the DISers out there as to the love of DIS...I must say, each and everyone I have met so far should be using the word Loyal in thier description, but I am sure it goes deeper than that, and am just hoping to maybe be provided that insight. For those on the ship, I was that deck 4 guy, with the denver broncos leg, for the rest of you, I was still that deck 4 guy, with the denver broncos leg...LOL...

P.S. please be understanding that I am probably very green when it comes to DIS lingo, so while I am breaking myself in, please provide explanations to the lingo used so as not to leave me further in the dark than I already am...

Thank you,
A Potential Future "DISer"

Also, what is up with the PINS????

Welcome to the boards! I'm fairly new myself, so I can't help much with the lingo - but how did you like the cruise? Have you become a DCL addict like the rest of us? :earseek:

A DISer is simply someone who loves all things Disney and comes here to share their experiences...good & bad...with other DISers so they can plan their future cruises or trips to WDW. :) We come here to share our obsession and know that others will understand.

Welcome to the DIS. Can't speak about the PC cruise because we weren't on it, but as someone who cruised with 150+ fellow DIS'ers at Christmas I can tell you that the DIS is all about a common bond and making friends. People come to the DIS because they love Disney. Be it the parks, the cruise line, DVC, whatever. They stay because they find friendship. Think of the DIS as an online Disney version of Cheers.

With the cruise meets board you get to know your fellow cruisers before you cruise. In the case of the 10 day Christmas cruise we ended up with over 24,000 posts in a year and a half and made many friends. We linked dinner reservations so we had 7 tables of DIS'ers at both the early and late seating. We had a wine party on board thanks to some fellow DIS'ers where everyone brought wine from them home region to share. We also had an ornament exchange (since it was the holidays).

But best of all we were on the ship with some many friends. We didn't hang together all the time, but it was great to see a friendly face on the ship, in port, and on our excursions. We helped each other out and we shared the experience and pictures after. I think that is very much what the group on the repo cruise did as well (and from what I read on an even grander scale).

Hope you stick around and be part of the DIS family. Then when you cruise again join the meets thread for that cruise and meet some new friends before you sail! :disrocks:

WELCOME TO THE DIS!!!! :Pinkbounc Mr. Denver Broncos Leg! ;)

Share what you learned while cruising with others and it will be returned to you a thousand times over in friendship and fun. That's what I do.

Caution, though. My dabbling in the resorts boards and trip planning forums led to life long friendships and a true addiction.

We're here to share our experiences. Answer questions of those that are new. Ask questions of those that have been and have a fun time.

OneLeggedSouthernGuy,

Welcome to the boards! If you don't know, being green is a good thing, as that is the official color of the DIS boards! LOL! You have a head start and didn't even know it!! You will get some great information from these boards. First you will only visit the board you are looking for info on, ie: the cruise boards - and then you are drawn in!! You will start to venture onto other sites. BEWARE!! Once you are pulled in you are hooked!
