Sovereign Bank offering 4.5% on savings

Just thought I'd let you all know. The plan is called "Triple Your Interest" and you get 4.5% as long as you have automatic deposit and deposit at least $200 per month. If you deposit $100-199, you get 3%, and anything under $100 gets 1.5%.

Wow! That is a great interest rate for a savings account right now. I'm going to look in to it. We don't have a Sovereign Bank locally but I know there is one near my parents' house. Thanks for the tip!

They probably off online banking. Is this a limited time promo? We have accounts at Allied becuase they offer the best interest rate even though it still sucks. I remember when 5 year cds were 8.5%.

I just looked at the Triple Your Interest info online and see this:

How It Works

* Simply set up recurring automatic transfers into the account from any Sovereign Checking account
* Receive a rate of 0.45% APY** (triple the standard rate of 0.15% APY**) for the following month if the sum of the automatic transfers is $200 or greater
* Receive a rate of 0.30% APY** (double the standard rate of 0.15% APY**) for the following month if the sum of the automatic transfers is between $100 and $199

Maybe it is different from state to state? This info is for NY

I was just coming to post also. It is that rate for New Hampshire too. I think it was just read wrong by the OP.
