Souviners

Last summer I mainly got WWoHP stuff, such as the wands and a few other collectibles for my family.

This summer, first thing I will buy is a lanyard for my room keycard. I do collect onride photos, and I plan to buy all of them this year (yeah, I'm a sucker).

I may also get a Gryffindor robe for my little brother, although I remember they were $99 last year, so we'll see.

Aside from that, I don't plan to get much in the way of souvenirs. I try to travel light, with just one suitcase-on-wheels-thing.

You know...as many times as I've been, the only things I buy are for HHN each year. I get a t-shirt showing all the houses and a tall shot glass. That's about it. I spend even less money on stuff at Disney. Since I live here I don't need to buy all that stuff but the HHN items are dated so I keep getting those every year.

I'm not big on souvenirs. The first time I went, I bought four postcards, a birthday wand (Reed), a Marauder's map tshirt, a black tshirt that has all the different creatures on it, and a pink pygmy puff. The second time I went, all I bought were the four dragon figurines. I wanted them the first trip, but they didn't have the fourth dragon and I wasn't buying the set without him. The last two times I've been there (this past Dec and about two weeks ago) I didn't buy anything.

Of course, I've bought alot of frozen butterbeers, one nonfrozen butterbeer (yuck!), pumpkin juice, cauldron cakes, rock cakes, pumpkin pasties, and fudge. lol

We just bought a HP Wand, robe, Gryffindor lanyard and luggage tag. Yes, I have a 10 yr old son. We also got a leather bracelet for my daughter with her favorite band name carved into it (Alesana). A couple of T-shirts and all of the ride photos.

At the exits to the parks they have a shop where you can send your packages to the front and pick up your purchases before you leave. This shop has a lot of great discounted merchandise.

Oh and if you play some of the carnival games in the parks you can have that huge stuffed animal your kid won sent to the front of the park as well.

When we went last october we tried to get practical souveniers that we could use more than the usual month or 2 before it breaks or you get bored of it. We bought mostly harry potter gear. I got a t-shirt, a hoodie, my wife got a hoodie, we got 2 collectible butterbeer mugs, a set of the 4 house tumblers, and I got a wand (the only non practical thing) We are going back this week and we plan on getting about the same things this time. 2 more butterbeer mugs so we have a set of four, we'll probably get another set of tumblers they are large and durable good for kids and adults. I am gonna get a lanyard to carry around my pass and room key since we will be staying on site. And if I can talk the wife into it I may pick me up some robes. We are going to disney too but the only thing interesting to me souvenier wise at disney is Star Wars stuff so we'll see what I find there. O and maybe a pirates of the carribean something or other. pirate:

My older two are planning on getting some Harry Potter souvenirs. Nothing specific. DD-12 did want a wand but now isn't sure.

When I go, I'm definitely getting my sister a Slytherin hoodie cause I saw it on Emma when she visited the park and it looks SO GOOD. Probably going to get the souvenir butterbeer mug too.

Other than that, I plan to get a US sweater with the year on it and a picture frame also with the year on it. Maybe even a shot glass.

Oh yeah, and I'd love a Gingy plushie too! Or if they have minion plushies by the time I'm there, I'll have to get one. And a minion shirt/sweater too. Maybe I should write these down...

each year i buy the tall and short HHN glasses.
also buy the HHN pins.
and the HHN lanyards.

i have a small fortune of them...:rolleyes1

they sit on my dresser at home and it makes me sleep better at night knowing they are there.

other than that, i do periodically buy the marvel writing pads, marvel pins, character pins.

at HRC i drop a fortune in pins.

In my last two trips, i dropped over 1K on pins.

It'll be our first trip, and I think we are going to have a really hard time not buying everything in the Harry Potter stores!

Shot glasses usually. Oddly enough I dont even drink. I also love t-shirts! I get one from Hardrock whenever they come out with a new one.
I also like to get a pin every once in a while as well as lanyard. Last time I bought a pumpkin juice and chocolate frog to take home to my brother who as VERY jealous that he didnt have the money to jump in the car with me.

This time jelly beans and... something else was the request. I wish I could take some butter beer home! :confused3 Just wouldn't work so well.

Could you tell me what is the cost of these? And which rides have them? Thanks!

At IOA, there is Hulk, Ripsaw Falls, Forbidden Journey, and at US there is HRRR, MIB, Mummy, and I think that's it.

I alwaya said Universal need to implement onride photos at ALL rides where possible.

I bought Bertie's Every Flavor Beans last year, they were totally disgusting. Never again.

Anyway, you have given me an idea, I may collect shot glasses this year. How many do you think there are? Preferrably I would like one from each ride.

I usually just get tshirts but DW will buy everything from key chains , shot glasses to jewelery

My son is so funny. He informed me yesterday that he wants:

"A Homer Simpson drawstring bag, licorice wands, pumpkin pasties and chocolate frogs."

Before Potter was built, I never bought merch at Universal, except for a stuffed ET doll for my niece. Now in the three trips I've taken since Potter I'm pretty positive I've given Universal more money in merch than I have in tickets, vacation packages and food.:rotfl2: I'm talking brooms, robes, wands, t-shirts, collector pieces, mugs, photo frames, candy, the list goes on and on. It's like a Potter nerd shopping mecca that I just can't resist.
