It looks like Southwest airlines offers very competitve prices. Do they have inflight movies, offer snacks, comfortable seats? We have usually flown JetBlue but they are getting way to expensive. How far in advance do they release their tickets? I am looking for tickets for April. Any information you have on Southwest would be greatly appeciated.

Southwest usually posts about 3-4 months out. Right now they are posting until January 9th..you don't get assigned seating. Depending on your boarding pass...either a,b,c,d..is when you board the plane. A is first and so on. You can print your boarding pass from your computer on the day you are leaving. This way it may help your party to seat together. They don't movies, etc. You do get a beverage and a box of snacks, which usually include cookies, crackers. We have flown southwest many times and enjoy it. Enjoy your trip.

Never movies on SW, snacks consist of a bag of peanuts and some type of crackers and your choice of beverage. That said, we fly SW all of the time! We bring our own food and have a great time. Can't beat the prices and we've never had a problem with the seating. If you have kids under 6 you can pre-board;now that our kids are older we just print the boarding passes out on-line and still get early boarding. Never a problem! For kicks, you should watch the SW "reality" show on A and E...it's called AIRLINE. It's amazing to see behind the scenes of this process! Good luck!

I was a Southwest Flight Attendent. I love this airline! The reason that they are able to offer such good prices are because they are a "no frills" airline. You won't get alot of ammenities or extra services, but you will get a fun ride at a cheap cost. The company was great to work for - they go above and beyond for their people. I will always fly with them! :cool1:

I love Southwest- I hate flying any other airline. The people that work for them are fun, happy, enthusiastic people.

Food wise- depends on how long your flight is. Short flights they will just serve peanuts or pretzles. Longer flights they serve an awesome "snack box" with lots of great goodies in it (chips and cookies and granola bars and stuff like that). But they encourage you to bring your own food. They will serve drinks on every flight (with refills if you desire).

With the money you are saving per ticket buy a portable dvd player- there you go, you have your movie AND it can be your choice ;)

FYI- If Southwest's price goes lower, they will refund you the difference.

I also love SWA. And they are fun people that work on that airline.

My first flight with them, during the landing as the plane's wheels were hitting the runway, the pilot yelled in the microphone

Whoa Whoa Whoa!! :rotfl2:
