Just talked to Chase and they said once you've spent $2000 in transactions that it takes 6-8 weeks to get the 50,000 bonus points? Is this what you all found to be true?
I have $1300 due January 2 on my new card but have spent $2600 on the card so she said I have met the requirements but that it will take 6-8 weeks to see those 50,000 bonus points for signing up for the card. I HOPE SHE IS WRONG! We have a trip booked for APRIL and I need to nail down some flights to make it reality.
What kinds of experiences have you all had with the Southwest Visa promotion? I signed up this fall and got my card-spend $2000 in transactions in the first 3 months for 50,000 bonus rapid rewards points.

No. The representative was correct. It takes 6-8 weeks for the bonus points to credit. It says that on the application page and it was my experience as well.

I signed up fot the airtran bonus flights(owned by southwest) and it only took 4 weeks from when I met the 2000 mark. Hope that helps:)

thanks....guess I will just have to wait it out and hope for the best-I can cancel my package at WDW on March 14th so if no reasonable airfare or the points come through by then, then we'll just go another time. Good thing I didn't tell the kids!

I just got the card thanksgiving week. Made my first purchase 11/26 ($2700 on refrigerator and dishwasher). I received 52,700 points and they were there before Christmas. Obviously less than 6 weeks. More like 4 weeks for me. Who knows when the points arrived since the first time I checked was Christmas Eve.

you may get lucky, you may not,the points aren;t supposed to be there for that long, but sometimes they appear sooner..... it is important to know this before planning a trip based on points....

It took awhile to get ours. I think it was because of the statement ending date. Our statement ending date was about 6-7 days after we received the card. After charging the $1,000 (the requirement at the time) which we didn't do before the 1st statement closing date, we had to wait until the next statement closing date and then it was a few days after that they actually showed up in the account. Our flights were the highest in points when we finally received our 50,000 bonus points, but by checking every day we were able to get roundtrip tickets that we originally booked at 17,000 points a piece, down to 10,000 points a piece :thumbsup2. That's one of my most favorite things about Southwest is the free changes!

I think the OP is referring to the bonus points that came with signing up for the card and making a certain dollar amount in purchases during the first few months. The points from purchases usually show up shortly after your new statement is generated but the bonus points take longer, about 6-8 weeks.

I think she is saying she received the 50,000 along with the 2700 - her total shows 52700.

We missed the first month's billing statement on our charges, but got the 50k points 2 days after the 2nd billing statement, at the same time as the points for the month. If you are lucky and your statement end date is soon, you could get the points as early as a few days after your first statement end date.

Yes, that is what she was saying. I too, got our 50k points, right after our billing statement closed. Obviously they can take the 6-8 weeks, but in my experience it did not. But I would not plan on them coming sooner, and consider it a great bonus if they do.

While I was waiting for our points to post last year, I went ahead and booked the outbound flights with cash. Then used the points to purchase the inbound flights once they posted.

This is a great idea! I just may do that!!!! it is no big deal if we go or do not go. Obviously we would love a trip to Disney but if we have to wait until Fall of 2013 or Spring of 2014 then so be it. I guess in the excitement of Chase offering the 50,000 bonus points for getting their card, I did not see the fine print about the 6-8 weeks to get the points. Oh well.....I have only paid the $200 deposit on the WDW package and can certainly cancel....

OP here: My next billing cycle ends on January 7th. At that time I will have the necessary $2000 for the signup bonus points. I am assuming this means that the points will be entered in between 6-8 weeks from January 7th.

Wow! I guess Southwest got wise! I did the deal last year and there was no 2000 in purchases, you just had to make A purchase. I bought a 2.00 thing at Wal-Mart and the 50,000 points were on the first statement. They got me 5 round trip flights :cool1:

Or would the points go in 6-8 weeks after I receive the billing statement and not the closing date of the cycle?

FYI: My statement closed yesterday-I have not even received the bill yet and the points were in my account TODAY so it does not take 4-6 weeks-for me it took ONE DAY from the statement closing date! and my trip is now booked!
