As it stands now, I am changing my flight to arrive at WDW a day early, which will result in us getting about $50 in credit each. If we decide later to move back to our original flight (assuming there is availability), can we pay the new difference using these $50 credits (plus whatever else is left on credit card)? I wasn't sure if the credits from the first change could only be applied to new booking or something like that. Thanks!

Yes, you can apply them to any new booking. Doesn't even have to be the same cities.

Southwest has the best change policy of any major carrier. Basically if you got $50 in credit because of the change in dates, if you decide to move back to the original date and the price is still the same it shouldn't cost any more.

All other major airlines charge at least $75 in change fees for each ticket.

Just wanted to add that you each have a year to use the $50 credit before it expires. If you decide to change back, you can apply it back to your original flight as long as there are seats available. Keep in mind that it is quite possible your original flight could go down in price also, leaving you with more credit. Not necessarily a bad thing, but if you don't have any plans to use the credit within the one year timeframe you would lose the benefit of it.

And it's one year from the date of original purchase, not the date you changed. Specifically, all travel using the credit must be completed, not just booked, within that year. Any subsequent activity using those credits inherits the original date.
