I'm sure someone already posted this information that was found on mousesavers but just in case. . .
the site listed some internet or 'systemwide' special ticket prices on Southwest. DH and I along with my in-laws are heading to WDW this September and found direct flights out of TF Green in RI to MCO for $115.00 RT per person - not bad huh?
Just thought I would pass the word:)

Nope not bad at all. Earlier in the week they were 49.00 each way, but, they are pretty much sold out now. I managed to take my 79.00 each way and convert them to 49.00 each way from BDL to MCO.
You can get their weekly newsletter by signing up on their site.
This way you can get the "cheapie" fare notificatin on Tues. am.
Glad for your good fares!!!! Enjoy your trip.

Gail - How did you change them from $79 to $40? We also have $79 and would love to save if we could.

Thanks,
Shelby

the newsest round of promotions from southwest has florida for 49$ from various northeast cities

check www.southwest.com and click on systemwide savings

gail

thought you might be moving from the 63$ fare to 49$ since you were "lucky" enough to snag the 20% promotion

anyway it happens, it is still nice to "save" flying southwest

Just made sure that the 49.00 fares were available for my times and party size and cancelled the original ones and applied the credit to the new ones.
They don't charge a change fee and I ended up with a hefty credit

Yep, but, we have friends going, which I paid 79.00 per person r/t plus taxes and fees and I had 3 fares at 146.50 (with the promo and the taxes and fees). So, all in all, after all the dust settled, SWA is crediting my cc for 205.20. If I had had the slightest idea that the fares would have dropped to this level, I would have passed the promo to someone who could have used it more.

I did the same thing and saved over $180 for 4 tix - Gotta love Southwest!!! I check everyday for lower fares even after I make reservations. One time, I changed the same exact reservation 4 times before a trip out to LA.

My only recommendation:

If you check the $49 internet airfare and it is available for your flights, call the reservation hotline and cancel while sitting at a computer. Once they cancel your reservation on the phone, your credit is available immediately and then you can buy the new tickets with that credit online (since the fares are internet only specials you can't do this all on the phone.) I was told by a SW hotliner that canceling your tickets online can take up to an hour to process and by then the lower prices may be gone!

Hope this helps!!

Just an FYI, you don't need to cancel your old tickets anymore and repurchase new ones - you can log right into the website, and change your reservation, and they will issue the credit, while retaining your reservation number and seat!

I did this earlier this summer with 4 tickets to Nashville on Southwest!

No more worries that your cheap seats will be gone when you rebook!

Just go to the Travel Center of the website, and click on Change Air Reservation - enter in your code, and can pick your new cheaper price!

Piece of cake!

I have never had any lag time when cancelling online. The credit was available immediately. They are using the same system you are.

It seems to not be working like that anymore. There was a post about this over on the transportation board.

I didn't think there would be lag time either but SW said that it could be right away or take up to an hour - esp off shift hours. I am sure most of the time it is right away but I didn't want to take any chances!!

I bought our tickets yesterday on my lunch break. We are flying non-stop from Buffalo. I got the $49 fare, so non-stop roundtrip tickets for 2 people came to $230.40! :hyper:

We were going to drive and camp at FW with my Dad's popup camper, but I just couldn't pass that deal up!

Thanks yet again to the members of the DIS message boards!

With gas prices so high - you probably saved money flying!!! ;)

The plane tickets plus the towncar is probably less than what we would spend on gas. We will spend more on food and resort (we are now staying at Pop Century), but now we don't have to pay for a motel on the way down and way back, and we won't have those miles on the Jeep. I really wanted to camp, but I feel we are making the right decision. There actually is much less to worry about this way. We won't have to worry about the weather as much, the long drive, what if something happens to the Jeep....and DFiance is just glad he will have a private bathroom! (he's funny about that) :D

or this will work .. i had agent on the phone , she made sure I got what i wanted and then canceled other reservation...

We got $49.00 to fla in october...

do not know where you are flying from

but, if you got the 49$ for florida in OCTOBER you "snagged" a deal since the website says

Fare Frenzy in Florida!

The following applies to these Internet Specials:

Available only on southwest.com.

14-day advance purchase required.
Purchase through August 5, 2004, midnight Pacific Time.

Travel August 16 through September 30, 2004.

My best guess is she is flying out of PVD if she is flying SWA. That would be the closest. Maybe Manchester or Bradley, but, none of the flights out of the aforementioned airports have 49.00 fares for OCT. They have 69.00 and 79.00 ones but that is it.

I appears she did this on the phone with the agent's help, but since the agent cannot book these fares for the pax, she must have done this herself. I hope she did not misread the fares.
