Does anyone know of any other ways to get sw air cheaper other than dings?

Sign up for their email list. We haven't gotten an applicable ding yet. But we rec'd an email about fare to/from Baltimore. So instead of $370 total for 2 RT tix out of Philly, we got 2 RT tix for $233 out of Baltimore.

I just signed up! Thanks for the info. With gas prices what they are....we are considering flying if the right price comes along for our family of 5. We are looking to fly roundtrip from Columbus, Oh. I have been checking the Ding faithfully, and nothing yet.

Does anyone know when they move the ding dates up?

In Jan. I got us (6) down (and back!) from columbus for $145 a piece with a SW email.

meandtheguys2: Thanks for the info. That gives me some hope! How long had you been signed up before they sent you an offer, and were the dates very specific...or just a time range?

I know airfare for 5 isn't cheap, but if it comes somewhere close to driving we won't pass it up!

I had just signed up, it seems. It was about 8 weeks before our flight. Good luck! I think we are driving it this time, because of the rental car expense. My husband has to be able to escape disney, go to the grocery or a museum sometimes! Some people are so picky! **smile**

Don't forget Dayton. AirTran had a $158 RT fare that just ended, so keep an eye there as well. We are making the drive (less than 1.5 hrs) down I-70, since the flight times were better and about $75 pp cheaper than Columbus.

Great idea! Dayton is just a bit too far for us, esp in the winter. (I have issues with winter driving!) I was going to check out Pitt., though too this year.

I think I'm beginning to drive my family nuts...I have checked Dayton, Cleveland, Cincinnati, and even Indianapolis. My husband drew the line at Pittsburgh. My sister lives in Dayton, so we could justify a trip that direction and stop by the see her family.

I was hoping if we flew to just use DME from the airport, and only rent a car for a day if we wanted to go anywhere. Hopefully we don't get antsy without one!

Nice going. I got that last year. I like BWI, even though it is further from Philly. Plenty of good park and fly hotels and the long term parking rate is reasonsible and the lots are close. Got $488 RT on US Air for 4 people this August, PHL - MCO. It popped up one night in April and was gone in 2 or 3 days. Was actually hoping for SWA deal, but never found one and nothing has Dinged for me out of Phila.
