Southwest Reservation Question

When (and if!!!) the reservations open up past Sept 12, I need to book 5 seats. Should I try to book all 5 at once, or break it up into 2 and 3? Which will give me the best chance at getting seats?

I've made six on one reservation and did not have any problem. I don't think there's really any benefit with Southwest to splitting it into two reservations.

I agree, it doesn't make a difference as the seats are not assigned.
Where it WILL make a difference is if the lowest price fare category does not have enough seats for your whole party. Ex: After inputing your information on the reservation page (including number of people as 5) you see a promotional fare for $49 one way (wishful thinking), but it is showing not available for the time you want. Go back to the reservation page and change the number of people in your party to 4, then if still not available, try 3 and so on. Sometimes you will find availability in that fare class for a smaller number of people and you can at least get the low fare for that number. Then you can book the rest of your party at the higher rate.

Thanks, that is what I thought. I had tried a test doing 5 people, could not get the fares, switched to a lower number and was able to get them. Hopefully I will be near my PC when the rates come out!

Daisysmom,

You might also want to book ow's as opposed to rt since sometimes you can catch a Ding fare on only one way of your trip and can't then take advantage of it if you've already booked rt. This will mean you will have two separate confirmation #'s, one for each way, but, could save you quite a bit if a Ding comes out for one way of your trip.
