Southwest release for September!

I know they are releasing again on January 27th but I am wondering if anyone knows historically when flights for end of September are released?? I want to book as soon as they are released as I read that is the cheapest and then I can get the flights I know I want already!!

That's possible or even probable--all except the last few days of September were released on Feb. 4 last year--but unless you have inside information I wouldn't say it's certain. The prior year September dates were released early, but going back a few years it has been as late as March/April. In general, SWA has been releasing a bit earlier so if I had to guess I would say an early or mid-February release date for bookings through at least most of September is likely.

If you go to the Southwest website, click on Travel Tools on the top left and from the list click All Travel Tools. On that screen they will tell you when the next dates will be released and how far out. Keep an eye on that page. Now it says, "We are currently accepting air reservations through June 30, 2014. On January 27, 2014, we will open our schedule for sale through August 8, 2014. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently."

They may not be releasing them as quick since they are doing the final merger of AirTran flights. From what I understand, AirTran has to be phased out completely by 12/31/14. They are repainting the AirTran 737's to SW colors and sending the 717's to Delta.
