I have a flight booked from BWI to MCO and back on 12/16 and 12/20. I paid $79 each way, which I think is a great rate. I just looked at my flights on southwest.com and now they have them for $39 each way!! Is there anyway I can switch to the $39 fare? and the extra money just be a "credit"? Or should I just leave it alone? Our trip is next week and I don't want to mess anything up. Thanks! -Steph

Call Southwest and if the fare has gone down, you get the difference in a credit for future travel. Can't hurt to call and ask.

Be advised, as has been pointed out in other threads here, if the only thing that has changed is the price (flight numbers, days and times are all the same), you should be able to get the difference refunded to your credit card, which obviously is better than merely getting credit to use on a future Southwest flight. Posters in the other threads say that you must first rebook on-line using the new fare, and then call the Southwest customer service center to get the difference credited back to the card you charged the original trip on. It would probably be a good idea to call Southwest before doing any of this just to confirm that it can be done as I've described. You wouldn't want to be ticketed (and paying for) twice as many seats as you need.

If the fares are available for your exact flights, cancel your present reservations and rebook. Then call the Customer Relations number listed on the SWA site. They are open during "normal" business hours CST.
Often you will not be able to change anything via phone if they are internet only fares.

I just called Southwest and all I said was "I booked a flight that was $79 and now its $39". The rep. said ok I'll see what I can do. He said they dropped the price because it was 7 days before the flight, he said now it was only 6 days but he would make an exception. So, he gave me a $160 credit to use on future travel. I told him I was flying w/SWA in May, so I could definitly use it. I think if I asked for a credit on my cc, he would have done it, but I didn't care because I know I'll be flying in May anyways. Southwest is the best!! :cheer2:
