I have been looking online for flights on Southwest Airlines. So far, they have the best fares. We are tentatively planning for a Nov. trip to WDW. When I enter date and destination info and search for flights/fares, I get $79 each way if the request is for one adult. If I enter 5 adults (we are a family of 5), I get $117 each way. What is up with that? Do you have to pay more to travel as a family? Do I book for each of us individually? We have young kids, so I really don't want to do that, but $42 more per person since we are traveling together - doesn't make sense to me.

When that happens it means that there are less than the number of seats you are requesting (in your case 5) available at the lower price. I would try entering 4 passengers, then 3, etc until the $79 rate pops up and then book the remainder of the passengers at the higher rate.

Just remember that you'll get separate confirmation numbers for each group you book. When you go to check in the day before your flight, make sure to have separate tabs or windows ready to check in each confirmation one right after the other. This will get your boarding positions as close as possible to each other.
